Re: Gearbox talk
if your going with a 78-79 inch prop you'll want to stay around 2.3 gears. With 2.88 gears you'll want somewhere around an 81-83 inch prop. There are some calculation charts floating around here somewhere. Maybe talk to ffjpowell, I know he has that chart.

Re: Finally-I'm building my boat
Yeah bud life is good! I've been on hold for a while with getting down your way but I'm putting another boat together now and it shouldn't be to long. Just waiting on jeff (affliction airboats) to get my engine stand welded up. Other than that, I'm ready to put the boat back together.

Re: What type of wood do you use for stringers??
What I use for boat stringers, does not involve any wood at all. You can buy something called a "prisma beams" form a company in Melbourne or make your own from foam board (which is easy to do) I'm building my 7th Hull now and using both Prisma and making my own, it's easy call me at 407-...

Re: What type of wood do you use for stringers??
If you plan on keeping this boat for any amount of time, if wood is going to be what you use then you should use a decent AB or AC plywood cut them and sandwich the them together with good resin and glass in between. Otherwise soon as you start drilling holes weather and water will rot the "che...

Re: What type of wood do you use for stringers??
Or if you know how to make a mold for your stringers you could use Sea Cast, I have used this in my transom of an offshore boat I rebuilt a few years back and will back this stuff up 100% any day http://www.transomrepair.net/product_in ... ucts_id=34

No completely different stuff southern style is talking about. Nida core is like a honey comb sheet and comes in plywood sizes. You can google it to look it up

Re: What type of wood do you use for stringers??
Hey Kyle if u can spend just a little more, then try to stay away from wood stringers all together... There are many non wood (composite) products out there that are multiple times stronger than wood and will never rot. Nidacore is one I have used before, and was very easy to use.
