Re: old timer frog gig

Mine is 37 years old. I made it at Norman Padgetts shop in Palm Springs when I was 15. My back up is 24 years old. As long as you get or can straighten your own fish hook your set for life. I frogged commercially from 17 till I was 45. I still do it some , but not for a full time living now. The 37 ...

Re: Any Boat Builders Interested?

Just an observation; If FWC were to "let a spec slide a little" and pay full price for something they did not get you all would be crucifying them on here for wasting your tax dollars and playing favorites with "certain boat builders". When they hold you to that standard they are...

Wow four pages to learn that it does not pay to be cheap. The fellow who lost out on taking duck hunts for a whole season dang buddy that extra $15K would have been worth every penny to deal with a builder who would have had you your boat in time for season. Even if your an average duck guide you wo...

Dang thin skin, you need a lesson in old school cracker. He did answer your question. Let me do some translation to Yankee so you understand what was said. A cottonmouth hull is built one way and one way only. You either want to buy one or you don't. You will get the hull the way it is built and it ...

JMO, but from life experience and dealing with people typically those who do not have a business license and liability insurance etc etc etc are substantially cheaper as they are not paying the expenses associated with truly being in business. There are some good craftsman who do work on the side an...

Deuce, Sorry for the delayed response. No priming on the steel flex. for first application sand to bare metal. You can mix pigment into the steel flex if you want color. There are typically only a few colors to choose from; however they can special mix a color if you are trying to do something custo...

Re: Electrolysis

Use steel flex, this is based on 35 + years of experience in using steel flex on aluminum boats in salt water. Steel flex was old school 2-part epoxy that many use to use on their airboats as a protective coating, but those of us who also used kicker boats experienced riveted boats rotting out when ...

FWC is always nice, the more they can get you to run that gator the more likely you are to tell on yourself or someone else then that pleasant conversationalist turns into a novelist when the ticket book comes out.

Deep water hulls can be decked over GTO Diamondback, Bear, Hamant and several others including fiberglass hulls are decked over. Deck over means the hull has a top deck and is either even with or just slightly recessed below the top of the gunnel. The rigging (seat stand etc..... is mounted on the t...

The bell housing bolt pattern on the LS motors is the same. The flywheel pattern at the crank is different and spacing on the crankshaft is different. If you either make your own or buy the transition plate to allow the three hole bolt pattern to be used on the LS it will line up perfectly with exis...

Re: Coast of a new boat

There are builders that have finance companies who will finance a boat for you with less than perfect credit, but you will have to insure the boat which is another $600 to $800 per year. As far as e-mailing a builder they get hundreds per day and unfortunately most are from dreamers so depending on ...

Use a mechanical gauge. Go to a Mack or Freightliner dealer and you can get a mechanical gauge with up to a 12 foot long lead/sending unit for about $74. Mechanical gauges are always more accurate and if installed correctly will give longer service.

If you are use to hunting "the grass down south" then you are use to running and gunning. Fair warning they will write you in a heart beat for running and gunning on the river. You have to be shut down with all forward motion stopped before you shoot. Lots of folks still do it lots of folk...
