Re: Stock LS1 aluminum block bottom end internals longevity

I will last you a good while if you baby it and keep the RPM's down. You start running dry ground alot or for a long distance you will most likely have a problem. Your biggest thing is to make sure it is tuned right and keep the heat down.

Re: GM HEI Billet Distributor - Asian

Your best bet anymore is to just replace your distributor every year (depending on hours). The weights, spring and seal wears out fast on an Airboat. Also make sure you check the end play on the gear. Most of them come way out of tolerance. Another thing to check is to make sure the bushings for the...

Re: 400 Small Block build

Just make sure you get the right head gaskets with the three steam holes in it. Also make sure the heads have the steam holes in them. If they don't you have to drill them in the heads. Best direct drive motor I ever had was a 400 small block. Once I did everything right I never had another heat iss...

Re: 4cyl Ecoturd now in Silverado

Uhairball that is definitely way far out. I'll be to old to drive or dead before that happens. Also there will ALWAYS be older vehicles around no matter what. I won't even by the new diesel trucks because of the regeneration crap. Anything newer than 06 is crap in my opinion.

Re: Airboat porpoising

If it still porpoises that bad with the trim tab all the way down than you either have a really bad hook in the hull that you should be able to see with your eyes, a stringer or 2 that are bad or your set up is way off. It might help if you tell us where you are located than maybe someone can either...

Carmotorbarge you are correct Sir. I remember saying I'll never go to EFI. I will say I'm glad I did because I love it. It is probably the best decision I've ever made to be honest. I don't forget much so I remember clearly going back and forth with you on that lol. I'm man enough to say you told me...

Br,lc,La I've been a member of SA since it first started it's just that I had one of my screen names deleted and the other one I forgot the log in information because it was so long ago. That's back in the days when we could have fun on here and not have to worry about all the cry baby crap.

FYI I can READ JUST F#@KING FINE. I would loved for you to figure out what was wrong with my Suburban with just a generic code, because I bet you couldn't have. It's definitely more than just a little wire testing when there is a problem most of the time. It took me telling them what it was to get i...

Re: 4cyl Ecoturd now in Silverado

OneBFC the big problem is what Swamphunter said. When something goes wrong you are stuck. Then you also have to worry about turbo problems down the road. When you really sit and think about it, it really isn't economical for the everyday airboats. The simple motors that most people can work on are t...

RazorsEdge yes that boat does have the Blue Lighting Belt Drive on it. He is using Century belts drives now because they no longer make that drive. Not to get of topic on this tread but is your screen name because of the pit blood line?

Duece they will and have to once the gauges read below the closer mark. There is no longer 90 or 30 day closers. It's now on a day by day bases. They are still patrolling no matter if it's closed or not. They are still spending the same amount of money even when it's closed. The difference is they a...

Re: 4cyl Ecoturd now in Silverado

br,lc,LA I'm not knocking the Eco motors on smaller airboats. What I'm saying is they are not going to be the change all motor. When I see an Eco motor on an 18’+ boat run dry with 10 grow adults and do everything my big block does than I'll say we have a great all around motor. I definitely don't s...

Re: 4cyl Ecoturd now in Silverado

Carmotor barge you are correct Sir. I'm sorry that I over looked that when I was reading. Well this makes it even better because now that I see that they are comparing apples to oranges. The new motor might be in the Colorado also but you can't compare a motor that's in a Colorado to a motor that's ...

Re: Hull Hop

Mixedbag I'm not saying there is anything wrong with putting a Trim Tab on an Airboat. I'm just saying it's a bandage for a problem and I don't like them. Trim Tabs were originally designed to level the ride of a boat and to aid in helping a boat plane out easier and faster. They were not designed t...

Re: 4cyl Ecoturd now in Silverado

OneBCF I see a Duramax was used for to make the point but can you put it up against a Cummins? I'm not a fan of the Duramax because to me they are slugs compared to what's available on the market. Also the peek torque is way off on the Duramax. Chevy says on one of the Duramaxs it has 445hp and 910 ...

It might make a great small boat motor but it will never make it to a work boat. The motors might be in the used market as long as they can live that long LMAO. It's dropped about 4 inches in 2A in the last few days. The reason is we are not getting any rain in town. Thank God for that. As long as we don't get a lot of rain in the city we will keep dropping little by little.

Re: Prop reference point

I second what Swamphunter said. Your only advantage right now is that your gearbox is only a 2.37 and not bigger. With your gear ratio, motor and that prop I would start it at 3 and see what it turns. The Max Rpm on the R blades is 2800rpm so that means with a 2.37 ratio your max motor rpm can be 66...

Unforgiven you are correct Sir. A Trim Tab is definitely cheaper than a new hull. Some times you just have to go with what the fast fix so you can get back on the water and enjoy yourself. I'm glad to hear he got it fixed so some what. Most of the time on these these threads we never hear what the f...
