Re: filling holes

All good advice! FG Resin in this heat by yourself maybe 3 ounces at a time with pre cut mat from inside. No use adding mat on the outside bottom because your going to sand it off unless its a hook-recess-dip-wave? Easier to blend and bond if you have cloth that's the same as the hull. Flap wheel a ...

FGCI super bond!

Used to cream welds tainted grey on salt water t-tops and many other uses. Just can't apply some paints to it or gel coats!

Great point!
Jb weld sticks to lime ok but tends to pop when the lime pops from the hole.

Good prep is vital!

Re: filling holes

I didn't read a glass hull or alum? Both are a pain but if it's glass? Clear packaging tape on the lower side will save you an enormous amount of grinding/sanding later. It peels real easy unless you make your resin mix hot and toasty? Freshen up the holes regardless to good hull material, not old h...

I did both in direct overhead sunlight, rivet holes were off each side a good 1/2" when cold, a full inch up front, so it was too hot in my book, I think I will avoid poly anymore, too much to do with it for the money. I do see your point but also wasn't there! Normally a week or two in good h...

That's the Max Drive! Only four known to exist and have no idea who has them. 10k drive is a little rich though for most.

Re: hull tuning

Sounds as if poly was too hot when installed, ask me why I know! Both of the 2 new boats I've put it on plowed, and bad, had to get creative and Jack them around, you might need to build a custom truss to Jack out the areas you found convex with the string. FWIW a solid straightedge is superior to ...

Re: V-6 Vortec vs 350 V8

The only thing I've noticed is the v6 is limited by after market products. You have a choice of one head and about 50% of SBC V8's add on's. Not saying you can't pull 500 out of a v6 but the money is on a v8 sbc any day of the week. Poundage? Simple! 22-23% more for two more cylinders. The entire fr...

Your not going to like the answer but not much sticks to poly after the fact! Build it up flat before poly or suffer another bad poly job because the hull prep was not done before new poly? Kind of a no brainer with a water hose and good eye or a even a flash like at night. Your hull was rippled or ...

I've searched for information and the results seem to be all over the place. I'm getting ready to change my rudder configuration this summer. As much as its not like anything you might see in Florida my existing rudder does work well. My two issues are the amount of weight at the back of my boat an...

An airboat may not operate on the waters of the state unless it is equipped with a mast or flagpole bearing a flag at a height of at least 10 feet above the lowest portion of the vessel. The flag must be square or rectangular, at least 10 inches by 12 inches in size, international orange in color, ...
