Re: Big Trouble Brewing?

15w50 is the recommended oil for this engine. So are you running canbus gauges? I doubt on your new engine that you have already had a sending unit fail. If you're running analog gauges I'd suspect a connection. Also, something to think about - There's a pressure relief valve in the oil pump. A spri...

Re: Big Trouble Brewing?

A couple rides ago, as I was taking off from the landing I looked down and saw my oil pressure pegged at 100 psi. I immediately let off the gas and oil pressure fell to the normal 65 psi. At idle your at 65psi? I've been running 15w50 since the first change of the 30 weight break in oil (at 8 hours...

Re: 556hp LSA vs. 600hp 418 Water Thunder

Oilfield Trash. How is that boat running with the new pulley set up and tune. Didn't you say that it was a close race between your boat and that 750HP supercharged counter rotator boat? He destroyed me off the line! Counter rotator gear box is waaaay more snap than I got with my belt drive and 4 bl...

Re: 556hp LSA vs. 600hp 418 Water Thunder

I went to one of the big airboat manufacturers today to get a quote for a new boat. The owner said that the LSA was a much better choice. He said that in his experience the LSA was a more reliable motor. Why in the world would he say that? Oh, probably cause he clearly has more experience selling/r...

Re: 556hp LSA vs. 600hp 418 Water Thunder

Somebody better call DBack and tell them to stop putting all those LSA's in airboats now! They've got a few customers with over 2000 hours on LSA's and I swear somebody is gonna get stranded due to these pistons!!!!

Re: 556hp LSA vs. 600hp 418 Water Thunder

Ha ha, oilfield. The truth is hypereutectic pistons will not survive like forged will. FACT. Leave the LSA stock, you probably have nothing to worry about. Maybe nothing if you do mild modifications. Maybe I'm overly cautious. I'm not comfortable pushing the limits with stock internals. . In no way...

Re: 556hp LSA vs. 600hp 418 Water Thunder

I paid $14,750 delivered including everything but headers. They were $900. Where did you order your LSA from? Hey bud you might want to steer clear of LSA's... they've got weak pistons. I mean that's all I think about now when I'm out running mine. I can't even have a good time airboatin' anymore.

Ya big thanks to Blown for taking the time to help a brotha out today! James you thought it was good to go before when it was swinging 4 blades (too much prop lol) on garbage pistons and a fat tune - it's gonna be noticeably better now! http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06/30/73a069a8888bf57b7a1db36...

Re: 556hp LSA vs. 600hp 418 Water Thunder

You have been GROSSLY misinformed. Only true part in all that is about warranty. I tune my own boat MEFI5, all safety parameters are intact. I have a 700hp to wheels 5th gen Camaro I also tune, run mid 10's in the 1/4 with a manual tranny. That is good to know. What tuner are you using? He posted i...

Re: 556hp LSA vs. 600hp 418 Water Thunder

I'm not saying they are bad motors at all. Hell if I had a 12' boat I would for sure be running a Lsa. The reason most people haven't seen the problem yet is because most people don't have 700 to 1000 hours on there boat. It takes the normally airboater at least 10 years to even get close to those ...

Yep proof that a cadillac CTS-V with stock headers, intake, and tune make the 556 HP.

I'm not gonna argue you 30-50HP cause it really doesn't matter but you're low balling yourself unless you are running CTS-V stock headers, a CTS-V intake, and a GM factory tune.....

Re: 556hp LSA vs. 600hp 418 Water Thunder

but I do wish I had been willing to pony up for a purpose built motor. Let me take that back; if I had to do it over again, I would go for the all-aluminum DART 540 BBC that MAS sells. 800 hp, naturally aspirated, weighs less than an LS3. Of course, you're talking >$20K. JS 8) Feel the same way!! C...

Re: 556hp LSA vs. 600hp 418 Water Thunder

WT. 44 more hp 556 on that LSA is the GM #'s when it's in a car with restrictive headers and intake.... In an airboat application with some Norman Clay headers and a big fat 9" K&N on the snout it's closer to 600hp (according to a GM engineer). Sniper I live in Cocoa your welcome to come run mine. ...

Re: 3 or 4?

What's your cruise rpm? I know there's a lot of variables there but on average what are you cruising at? On my LSA I'm turning it right at 3k on cruise. RPM is pretty much speed matched at cruise (3,000 = 30mph). 4 blade 82" R and CH4 2.5 ratio. WO is around 5400. I have no idea what the pitch mark ...

Well said Deano. My wife told me that maybe the 4 different boats we met at different times weren't from around here. I told her that doesn't matter. There's two easy to see trails running parallel for miles! It should be universal common sense. Kinda like always going right. I wonder if these peopl...

Get on the RIGHT side of the super highway

I don't understand why people would put themselves or others at risk riding the wrong side but fortunately I was on the look out for retards today and kept my family safe.
