Re: Dirt daubers- forum opinions please

I can't get in there with a pressure washer. I rotated the blades by hand a little at a time. Each time I used compressed air on one side of the cog and a shop vac on the other. Trying to push and pull the dirt. A buddy of mine called. He has forgotten more about airboats than I have ever known. He ...

Dirt daubers- forum opinions please

Dirt daubers got me during duck season last year. I fired up the boat in preparation of duck season, not even knowing a dirt dauber nest could break a belt. I learned the hard way. I also learned how to change a belt. Not easy but not fun either. This is a counter rotating reduction unit. I was unab...

Re: AIRBOAT HELP

Anyone familiar with "Alumitech"? was thinking about following some of their options on "build your own boat" I un an 18 foot Alumitech. I like it a lot. It does what I need. Came with the 496 levitator, 2.3-1 Century Reduction, counter rotating propellers. The only thing it won't go across is sand...

Thank you guys. I got her back together. I will fire it up in the morning. I need a clear head and clear vision to do that. Right now I have neither.

Re: Putting propellers back on.

So be it I used a red sharpy pen to mark the position of the blades, I don't have to use that thing, correct.

Also was I supposed to use red threadlocker on the 7 bolts inside the gear reduction unit? The ones bolting it to the rear of the engine.

Re: Please chime in airboat people

Well? What's the verdict? You get it figured out? Yessir, I got the belt on the way and it should be here by Friday. I tore everything down to the last thing, seven bolts to take off the reduction unit itself. I read somewhere the eccentric gear gear and shafts assembly weighed 65 pounds. Bull-frea...

Crow hater or fan man may I call one of you two? For that matter, anyone who knows, may I call you? I am at 713 530 9182 my name is Wayne.

Re: Please chime in airboat people

I am in it now. I can see taking off the blades was the right thing to do thank you for the information. Here is where I am. Impact sockets will not fit in the holes to take the 3\4 hex bolts out. A regular socket fits very tight. I am trying to avoid taking those hubs off. Please watch this video a...

Re: Please chime in airboat people

I was wondering why the blades have to come off? If I can run a come along to strap wrapped around the prop shaft, couldn't I suspend the whole guts, shaft and props from that set up? Once suspended, slide it all back enough to replace the belt, then slide it all back in?

Please chime in airboat people

Avoiding a long story about how and what situation I am in in, I will get right to it. $1000 belt change is not something I can afford right now. I have decided to change the belt myself and save the $700 to $800 in labor costs. I have a 496 Levitator pushing a century CH-3 2-1 gear reduction. It dr...

Airboaters need to read

Especially newbies such as myself. I had some bad luck this weekend so far as boats. To save the long version I will explain the airboat and why it failed. In the early part of the season I dragged the boat out to clean it up and prepare it for the season. As I got it fired up I noticed dirt dauber ...

Re: Running Green Sticky Grass - Need Advice

My vote is spray rig. Although the grass in the video is not green sticky, this is a very heavy boat. Its an 18 foot Alumitech. Listen to the RPMs drop as soon as I hit the sprayer. You can't see me spraying of course but you can certainly hear the difference in RPMs when I hit the sprayer. I hunt t...

Re: 2014 Gatorfest at Anahuac

When I bought my mud rig we launched on the west side of that marsh complex just south of Interstate 10. I believe it is called Hugo point. Is that the place you're talking about. That would be a nice easy 10 mile run from there to the festival.

Re: Mansfield

No issues, just idle out of the harbor. Once you get out of the harbor you can hang a right and be on that shallow flat to the point you will see out in front of you. By the time you hit that point you should be up to temps and ready to hit it.

Re: Texas airboaters live or ride ?

There are two camps down there. I don't mean one with a fire ring either. You got us that love the airboats and thems that hate them. It is rediculous to believfe the two camps can't get along. If he ever gets a little farther north up near POC ha can jump in my boat. PM me and I will send you inofr...

Re: 300 watt led lights

I got my lights in and love them. One problem came up and that was a busted end cap. Not that big of a deal as it did not in anyway affect the performance of the light. it was a little fin part of the end cap. I sent an email and the company repplied saying they would ship me a new part. Well I forg...
