Re: av 170 with 70 in. 2 blade ngh

What mark are u turning it with your 180? I have it set at the #2 mark... I have had it on the #3 mark and it really pushes hard but I could feel that it was very taxing on the motor so I took some pitch out and started looking for ways to increase the horsepower of my little motor. It's old and ne...

timing my magneto question...

My boat has a 4-cyl Lycoming with Bendix 20 series mag. Here is where I am at... 1. Put the #1 cylinder at top of the compression stroke. (The mark on the flywheel lines up on the case split) 2. Pulled the viewing hole plug, but there is no "red tooth" to be seen... Now I have a suspicion that my ne...

TIMING INSPECTION PLUG

How do I get the timing inspection plug out without destroying it? My plug is so old and brittle that I am having a hard time removing it. I guess if I tear it up, I can always buy myself another... Any tips on getting that plug out or do I just use a screwdriver and more force??

Re: What to do next trouble shooting my BENDIX 20 series mag

The points are not the E-gap. Set your points at .018 and follow the instructions below. Internal Mag Timing There are two internal adjustments that must be set correctly for a magneto to operate properly: point gap and "E-gap." The point gap should be set first. To do this, the drive shaft of the ...

continental motor up for auction...

I don't have a clue what it is exactly? I have seen it sitting outside behind the auction building for several months now. There are not too many airboaters around here so I think it should go really cheap. Any idea what model this is???

We've got a fantastic Belgian restaurant downtown that I frequent quite often. Mainly for the trappists beer selection but I have found the food to be outstanding. Therefore, I choose to order whatever the handwritten "special of the day" is along with a flat of mussels and a pint or two of beer mad...

What to do next trouble shooting my BENDIX 20 series mag???

I have replaced the points and capacitor in the offending magneto but it still wont run... I can see the new points set @ .019 making a tiny blue spark, but it seems to be pretty weak and it fades in and out. Sometimes it looked brighter and stronger than other times. And it would cough and sputter ...
