Re: Okie riding Florida. Show me around?
GONNA head south from Kissimmee toward the glades so I'm open to riding with someone farther south on sun-tues and then I'll head back north.

Okie riding Florida. Show me around?
Headed to Lake Kissimmee tomorrow to ride. Would be great to have as many boats as possible to ride with and to show me around. I'm on the west side. Can anyone recommend a good launch?

Re: Okie coming to Fl.
Would love to see some races if there will be any going on while I'm down. Old Glory, if I can make it that far south I'd love to see your camp. I've seen it talked about on here many times. Also curious if frogs can still be harvested this time of year. I grew up on them in central MO but have had ...

Okie coming to Fl.
I am headed to Fl Dec 5-9 to get a boat. I should have the 6-9 open to ride different areas. Would love to find some folks who plan to be out in a boat on these days who I could ride with to show me around. Never ridden the swamps ad it will be a huge change of scenery from what I'm used to. I'm not...

Why is this not an allowed thread? There are some individuals out there that are ripping folks off. It just happened to me. Why would we not want this info spread to help others avoid the same misfortune and drive these scumbags out of so called business.

I hate to agree with these guys but my 12x8 with 4.3 was scary sometimes with three folks on it. That's a lot of engine on a small hull.

Re: Small boats and polly?
I had a 12x8 Panther with a 4.3 DD Chevy. It would run dry just enough to get stuck. I am in OK and you definitely need poly here for the rocks even if you don't run dry. I think it depends on where and how you run.

I need the little driveshaft for a caddy oil pump. I'm at Alumitech in FL and this little sucker is keeping me from firing my 500. Anyone close to Orlando have one of these.

Caddy 500 parts question
Has anyone here used the March 2150 pulley set on a caddy. It has a two grove water pump pulley. Not sure why. Also the diameter is different than stock and there is no associated timing indicator.

Little over an hour south. Central MO is where I grew up. Live in Tulsa now. Guess I need to update.

Re: Okie coming to FL
I plan on breaking in the boat proper and if I burn as much fuel through it in two or three days riding as I do in the truck there and back, I can't say I'd be too upset.

Re: Okie coming to FL
Yes. It's about 2400 miles round trip. This will actually be my second boat to come from FL in 2 years. The first was just a hull. It's time for a major upgrade as I am now hooked for life. New boat is a 14' hartline, new stainless rigging by alumitech, and a 500 caddy that I've built myself with to...

Okie coming to FL
So I'm having a new boat built and am coming down from OK to pick it up in a few weeks. I'm gonna be in the Orlando area. Looking to get a group together and ride the Kissimmee or somewhere similar. Want to see the FL experience. I never have other boats to ride with and run mostly mud and sand flat...

Re: Caddy parts
I can't complain. I'm about 3500 in a complete rebuild. That's all accessories and headers. But I built basically a stock engine. New valves, cut the seats, decked the heads, didn't port/polish. May do that later if I need more power. Have the billet pillows and alt bracket on the way.

Re: Caddy parts
By the time I go through all that I'm better off to just buy the pulley set from MTS.

Re: Caddy parts
I am in OK. Thought it would be easier to find parts here but all the yards just scrapped them when scrap prices were high I guess. I'm about finished with this engine, I just need a pulley/timing indicator set. Guess I may have to bite the bullet and go with aluminum.

Caddy parts
Does anyone have a good source for used caddy parts? I specifically need the lightweight stamped pulleys and timing indicator. I've looked at the aluminum pulleys but I just can't justify paying that much for pulleys.

Re: Coast of a new boat
I got ya. May talk to a local bank and see if they will loan against a boat. Most won't loan to build but you could put your money as down to get it built then take a loan against the title once it's finished. Just a thought.

Re: Coast of a new boat
You would be better off to buy you a used boat or buy a hill and build the rest. I am building a 14.5x8 with new alumitech built stainless rigging and a DD caddy and new Al trailer and will be at around 18k all in. Doing the engine build myself and picked up a used prop. If you want to consider used...

Oklahoma airboa ter here planning to come run the swamps when I pick up my new rig from alumitech next month. Love your stories and would love to possibly visit your camp and see this way of life. Never even saw an airboat in person until I bought my panther hull and built it up. Now I'm hooked.

Re: mini build help/advice
I have a 12x8 panther for sale right now. I'm in OK. It has a 4.3L chevy on it. Will run some dry and tops out around 35 mph. Boat was completely rebuilt this year. 3 man rigging. Asking 8k OBO.

Re: Prop pitch
I agree cruising at WOT can be tricky. I run wide open sand flats on the AR river in OK though so usually there's no one else around and nothing to hit. My little boat only tops around 35mph as well.

Re: Prop pitch
Holding a DD boat at WOT for extended periods will not hurt anything as they are limited to 3000 rpm at WOT. A gearbox boat turning 5200 may be a different story. I have a 4.3 L chevy and regularly cruise open water at WOT for hrs at a time. As long as your radiator keeps everything cool, there are ...
