Columbus Run 2016

Pic from helicopter over one of the gatherings along the Platte River at the Schuyler bridge. Had about 120 boats there at that time. Someone at a cabin counted near 200 by the time they all pulled into Columbus about 15 miles farther upstream.

Re: OIL PRESSURE DROPS

My little boat with a 4.3 did this last year. Got concerned about it and checked for foaming, changed oil pump, oil, additives, synthetic.... still doing it. Unscrewed the sender installed a tee and added a guage I could turn and see from the seat and no actual drop, was the sender and guage the who...

Re: Any airboats in Iowa ?

I live in Nebraska now, but have boated a little on the Nishnabotna. Originally from Sidney, IA and there are a couple ramps down there at Riverton and Hamburg. Also one up by Red Oak that I know of. There is a ramp on the Raccoon river by Adel (Puckerbrush Access)that I have been telling myself I w...

Re: 4.3 w/ 2:1 gearbox. What prop???

I am pretty happy with the way my little boat is setup. Specs are in my signature on post. Runs very well with just me, decent with two people, OK with three if we keep supplies light, and fair if loaded down to make a day of it on the water. I am probably overpitched right now as I have been trying...

Sorry the lens was a little smudged. Boats beached up at the I-80 bridge stop of the benefit poker run 8-9-2014.

Good day on the river. Great food and fun times. Hope for a full recovery as you heal up.

Re: 4.3 L Chevy boats

I purchased a Diamondback 13x7 aluminum hull with a solid rake running a 4.3 carbureted, 2.37 rotator box, turning a Water walker Maximus 2 blade custom 74 inch prop. It does pretty well but I can't imagine going any smaller on hull size than this. This boat will keep you honest and can give you som...

Re: Anybody ride in Western IA?

Thanks, hadn't logged in for a while. I might be interested in some headsets. I got my new prop last Wednesday and took the little boat out 4 times since. I guess I have a small enough cage and prop because I got in at 64 ramp on Friday and went down past Venice and Two Rivers, it was pretty close t...

Re: Anybody ride in Western IA?

Thanks BenBad, I will be riding plenty on the Platte since I will probably be keeping the boat at the house. It is plenty wide for me to give clear paths to the faster boats. Going to get some more stick time on it and then want to travel around some experience some new scenery. As long as I am conf...

Anybody ride in Western IA?

Got a little boat last fall and hoping to have it running better this year. Rode a little bit on the Platte from Louisville to 64, and on the Elkhorn. Took it over to our farm in Iowa and had a good time on the Nishnabotna from the Riverton ramp, except for the big log jam blocking the whole river b...

Re: Mother Nature Give Us A Break!

Ice jam slightly broken up just north of South Bend. Plenty of ice upstream near Schuyler causing problems. When things warm up later this week it could get dangerous out there. Better get the campers and boats moved to higher ground if you haven't already.

Re: Early teal

They were shooting a bunch down by the Platte near Omaha,NE from the blinds yesterday morning. Didn't get them all, saw a couple groups of about 30 still flying around when riding in the afternoon. The mornings have been a little cooler now so they should start moving south again.

May be last good weekend to wear shorts & enjoy Huskers

Headed out to the Platte to ride and listen to game on the radio. Might be the last good weather weekend to enjoy it this season. Hoping to see some others out there. Harvest starts for me next week so my ride will be a John Deere instead of a Diamondback after this weekend.
