Re: Time for a change for the next Florida Governor

Rick Scott has done a good job, in my opinion. He'll get my vote, again, and did in the primary. I would take him over my current president in a heartbeat. At least he can make decisions.

Re: cant stand the itch no more

If I read the dyno sheet correctly, that motor is putting out 661/717? That is very impressive. Sounds like a monster.

Great looking ride!

We have been cutting the drawstrings out of our jackets for a couple years now. A drawstring makes it harder to pull your weapon anyway.

If he launches out of Astor, call up the Blackwater Inn. They will have his info, at least.

Re: Steering Thrust

So once we have a general idea of where our thrust cone is at a certain rpm, is there some guideline on where to place the rudder(s) in relation to it?

Re: rudder bushing

All the big shops have them. I bought 4 from DB a couple months ago. They're overpriced for being a polyurethane cork with a hole in the middle...buuuut my rudders wobble a bunch less, so I paid.

Re: Swapping hulls...

I assume you have angle at the bottom of your rigging that's bolted to the stringers. In reality, properly sized washers stacked and bolted up with quality hardware would probably work. I would be concerned that the rigging would eventually bend the TBars outward and crack welds and twist up the bot...

Drop $500 and get you TWO of the Li-ion Phos batteries! Now you've 1080 amps, and it only weighs 7.4 lbs!

Re: my first airboat

My only concern is that there appears to be no prop. I know that we aren't all wealthy, and I've been where you're at. But I tried cheaping out on that part myself, and it seemed like I had almost no "push". I got a prop, and I like it much better; gives it a much more "real airboat" sound too. Just...

Re: Heard A Waterthunder Rumor

I've always thought the modern hemi would be an excellent powerplant for an airboat. Anything that allows you to run that much advance without immediately grenading gives so much more room for modification.

I guess we will see what Waterthunder has in mind.

Re: Carmotor guy lost trying to Identify A/C Motor

Definitely a GPU. Has the valve covers with the little "winglets", downdraft intake, single mag. I assume its a PE-150 "200 GPU". The pan appears to have been replaced, possibly from an aircraft 470? Also, thats obviously not the original carb.

Have pulled a 19k lb boat with the same truck. The blowboat is barely felt. Lol

Re: Prop help

FWIW, my buddy has a "slightly more powerful than stock" IO-540. Before it was rebuilt he was using a 2 blade 72" Q, and it worked well on his boat. After rebuilding, he was overspinning the 2 blade, and couldn't get enough pitch in it. Then he got the same prop you currently have, and it's awesome....

Re: Glass hull help

If the oil dripping on it was enough to clean it to a point you're happy with, you likely wouldn't need to sand it. A cutting compound using a machine would probably be more than enough, and finish off with a very fine compound, again with a machine. And slop some of your favorite paste wax on there...

Re: pitch on 0470

For reference, if it helps; I have an IO-470-F that was converted to carb. I have my 72" Sig series pitched to 8 degrees at the tip, and it spins it just shy of 2800. It's a heavy DB with a lot of cage in the way. But that seems to be the best pitch/rpm combo for running the hill a couple hundred ya...

Re: excaliber test

Add this to the stack of useless threads.

If a GPU is turning the same prop as a 540, and spinning it faster, then you have a turbo GPU, or something is wrong with the fresh 540.

Don't come on here bashing products when obviously your test bed is flawed.
