Mag puzzle

Almost forgot, 3 of the cylinders are hot after warm up 1 cylinder is only Luke warm. Motor is 0320 with angle valve jugs and was just reinstalled on boat after painting engine. Had to remove right mag to remove due to motor mounts? Possibly out of time.

Mag puzzle

0320 , right mag seems to only fire at higher rpms ? Start up using both, when at an idle runs on left mag but stalls on right mag. Installed new points and condenser in right mag but again will not run on right mag at idle, only after running rpm up can I shut down left mag and continue running on ...

Man that was some awesome play by play, thank you i enjoyed it.can’t :old_glory: wait to hook up with you and go riding in the marsh. Always loved those hulls and still leaning that way in the near future, just hard to part with my Seminole hull that still rides great. Great going through your journ...

Re: Timing pros an cons

You are correct , I stated that wrong . Solid core wires but when making up the ends you could see they are twisting strands of wire wrapped in some kind of fiber for low or high resistance. But no problem with electronics at all. Totally agree on the dogs , ours are never happier than when running

Re: Timing pros an cons

:rebel: I run 8mm wires ,resistors and use an alpha 100 and garmin drivetrack 71 and so far have no issues with interference? Your correct on running to hot or bigger gap will cause detonation, wondering if that plus timing is causing my top end rpm hesitation. I will check on the brand wires I have...

Re: Timing pros an cons

I love the old style Charlie bass set up . If 1 side goes out I can run on the other. It cranks on 1 or both. Both of sides have a start and run module and parts are easy to get. Cranks easy idles immediately smooth.

Re: Timing pros an cons

It's just a 13 1/2 foot and I didn't set time there that's as far as it goes. Short version, the motor had mags on it when built with elec ignition installed afterwards. Try to decide if I want to turn timing gear 1 tooth or leave it alone. The system is a Charlie bass ignition and I dont need to ru...

Timing pros an cons

Av 0540 electronic ignition, timing is set 15 degrees btdc? Up to 2600 rpm pushes like a dozer, not complaining there. Over 2500 seems to break up and hesitate? 72in we 3 blade I know it should be timed at 25 degrees btdc but low end push is so great I hate to mess with it. Any suggestions

Re: Timing Mark's 0540

Sliding gator every question I've asked you've always answered, thank you. I owe you a beer. Finally just took off flywheel and found them, my Mark's was 1 though off but still nice to have it dialed in. It's old electronic ignition but it sounds brand new now, plus 1 of the toggle switches was bad....

Ww 72" 3 blade

Trying to fine tune my prop for upcoming weekend, whispertip 3 blade narrow 72" on av 0540, around 100 hrs. On the trailer set at 17 degrees as suggested, 3g easy. Turned up 18 1/2 degrees (best guess using magnifying glass) and dead set on 2900 rpm. Any suggestions, rides great wet our dry. Just wo...

Thanks for the info , the extra diameter was what I was leaning towards but didn't think about blade count. Makes good sense.

Excalibur

Has anyone tried a excalibur 5 blade 74" on a angle valve 0540, is it the length or pitch that gives low end push? Combination? Any thoughts, I have a fresh 0540 angle valve electronic ignition and just like to try something different than the 6 bladed warp I have now.
