Re: Best Dry Loading Trailer for my 15' Panther Ice Hull
Thanks Don, they're both right around the $6k mark and I agree w/ you on the quality. The only reason I'm even considering the Karavan is because 1,000 Islands boats typically get launched when open water isn't an option so one would assume they have dry unloading/loading down to a science.

Re: Best Dry Loading Trailer for my 15' Panther Ice Hull
Thanks guys, I reached out to Chris a few weeks back. He's checking to see if he can get me a galvanized tilt, the salt they throw on the roads up here in the winter is nasty.

Best Dry Loading Trailer for my 15' Panther Ice Hull
Hey guys I need a trailer that makes dry loading and unloading (in the Michigan winter) a joke. Here are the best two options I've found so far. Option 1: Karavan trailer sold by 1,000 island airboats. https://youtu.be/Hz4ByU3KNF8 Option 2: Loadmaster Tilt Trailer https://i.ibb.co/dg5QQSp/IMG-5490-1...

Re: Replacing fuel lines
USCG type A1. It is fire resistant and ethanol rated. If run in enclosed spaces it is supposed to be A1-15 which adds low permeability. Any marine store will carry it and unless it’s old stock it will be -15. Here is some good info: https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/document.do?docId...

Replacing fuel lines
Hey guys I have some old nasty fuel lines that I'm going to replace before they burn me. I have rubber lines held to barbs w/ hose clamps right now and I'm good with that setup. What material (and who sells it) should I buy?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Just bought airboat, getting ready to start after a couple years of storage.
If I was you I would Immediately get rid of the acorn nuts. They are not the proper hardware for that belt drive and they will destroy your prop. Century’s website can tell you the proper bolts you need to replace them with. Based on pictures you have mud wasps. They are prone to building nests on ...

Re: Just bought airboat, getting ready to start after a couple years of storage.
Thanks again for everything guys. Do you think it’s odd that the spark plugs are RC12YC?
When I went to purchase new ones the descriptions all mention small engine (lawnmower type) application.

The storage compartment has a quart of valvoline 5w-30 in it. I typically run Mobile 1 in my engines, any concerns about switching to synthetic?

Re: Just bought airboat, getting ready to start after a couple years of storage.
Either pull distributor and prime oil system with a drill, or spin it over with plugs out till pressure builds, pre fill new filter, I wouldn't change oil till primed and at running temperature. Sounds good, thanks I also read about pouring a tablespoon of oil into each cylinder before manually tur...

If definitely does in that picture, all three have the same seam where it looks like the piece of carbon ends right there. Good eye though!Msa4x4 wrote:That blade looks cracked....

Re: Just bought airboat, getting ready to start after a couple years of storage.
Hand turn the prop through at least one full turn to make sure there isn't any dirt dobber nests under the belt. :rebel: :florida: :old_glory: Thank you! Dumb question but can I just pull down on the prop and look for dirt on the inner side of the belt? (I’ll be sure to disconnect battery first). I...

Just bought airboat, getting ready to start after a couple years of storage.
Hey guys- I just picked up a 2001 15’ Classic/Panther ice hull. SBC w/ Century CH-3 reduction. It hasn’t been run in about three years so I plan on changing oil/filter, fuel filter, greasing the reduction unit per Century’s instructions. Am I forgetting anything? Carbon Prop Maintenance (refinishing)
Hey guys, this is probably a dumb question but how often are you supposed to have carbon props refinished? Looking a used boats and some state "props refinished last year" just curious if this is a good thing or due to doing something stupid like having to get them refinished because the owner sucke...

Looking forward to seeing your build, not looking forward to seeing the price though....ouch!
It will take some patience but I’ve seen a good number of used bowfishing boats pretty close to what you’re looking for come up for sale here and on Craigslist over the years. Good way to save $30k.

What would you rather have for ice travel, Alumitech AGS or 1000 island airboat? Which is safer? I need to haul a Clam Yukon shanty.
