Re: IO-720 Lycoming Fuel Injection Alternatives

I would love to have the injection system that Darren's buddy sells, I hear it is awesome. Out of my price range at the moment, building a house. My wife would shoot me over this purchase... Hmmm, house or fuel injection, can you spell divorce and alimony!!!!

Re: IO-720 Lycoming Fuel Injection Alternatives

If it will get better fuel economy, I'm all for it. The sucker likes gas. I'll reach out to Darin tomorrow. Someone said they are really high priced, does anyone know what he is getting for a 6 cylinder system?

Re: IO-720 Lycoming Fuel Injection Alternatives

Could you use an aircraft carburetor on it if I built mounting tube for it? I wish I knew more about auto injection, I can't see why it would not work if it is electronic.

Re: IO-720 Lycoming Fuel Injection Alternatives

The sump opening to the servo is facing the prop on the back of the motor. I will take some pics and post shortly. I think that will help tell the story.

Re: IO-720 Lycoming Fuel Injection Alternatives

I wish someone had a picture of that. Not sure how this would happen. This motor is an upstack so it limits space unless you work between the fuel tank and the sump. The one thing I have already done which has been the best move since owning this motor is installing a pacemaker and getting rid of th...

IO-720 Lycoming Fuel Injection Alternatives

I would like to get rid of the Lycoming Injection and go to something better. Any suggestions. I really don't want to spend thousands to do so. Can it be converted to an auto injection system? Let me know your thoughts?

Re: Pacemaker ignition system

I had a pacemaker system put on my o-720 last year and it may have been the best money I have ever spent on my boat. I will never have mags on my boat again. Can't comment on gas consumption because it didn't matter when I pull up to the pump, just empty your wallet. I do know it got better but I ca...

Here it is, I do have it for sale if someone decides they need it. I'm in no hurry to sell it unless I can get what it's worth.

Re: Lycoming 0720 Prop

So far I have been pleased with it. I got it on a heck of a deal and have had a little bit of problems out of it but I think we have it squared away. I am waiting on the servo to come back and that should fix the problems. it is extremely strong. They tell me if I get the injection system right that...

Re: Lycoming 0720 Prop

It is turning 2,550 on the trailer and 2,650 on the water. The mechanic has told me not to turn that motor over 2,650 so that is how I have it set up. 2,550 on the trailer at about 2.25.

Lycoming 0720 Prop

I currently have a 4 blade H 76" and am looking to upgrade. I know there are a lot of questions about props on here. What would be recommended for this beast. I don't need to run a 100 but I want it to run over anything that I point it towards. I would prefer the low end. I would like to keep my hub...

Re: 0720 Upstack Fuel Injected 8 Cylinder Lycoming Problems

Took me a while and with some much appreciated assistance from Jimmy White. we found the problem. Had a leak on the intake. Thank god I did not burn up the cylinder before I found it. Replaced the o-rings and gaskets. It's back running like it should. Thank everyone for there help.

Re: need airboat insurance

Need not try Bryant Coverall if your cage is not a full cage. Had a quote from them last week and I went to bind the insurance. I sent two pics and it showed that part of the motor was exposed (1/4 or pancake cage) and they would not write it. They said that had changed recently. Best of luck.

Re: A/C power boats...

Go big but you better have a lot of dollars for gas. The one I have will drink gas like my buddies drink beer. Fuel injected upstack 0720 lycoming 8 cylinder. It will take you where ever you want. I really like it. It is definately not the cheapest thing to run.

Call Jimmy and let him know the bells and whistles you want. He has many options, so the price changes depending on what you want. He has been extremely reasonable with everyone I know that has one of his hulls. The following came off of his website: Jimmy White-Owner/Builder 352-481-5181 I am mostl...

Re: Jimmy White hulls

I think you will be extremely happy with a Jimmy White. I have one that I have an 8 cylinder lycoming on the boat. It is the 15x8 and I have first hand knowledge of the big block boat above and it is one of the fastest freest ride boat I know of. They ride extremely well and are tough. Mine is an op...

Thanks for the info and the help. That's where I will start and see if it will correct the issue. The only other issue is it LIKES a lot of gas but that comes with the territory!!!

0720 Upstack Fuel Injected 8 Cylinder Lycoming Problems

I need some help. I have an 0720 Upstack Fuel Injected 8 Cylinder Lycoming. The motor is running bad especially once the motor warms up. I have taken it to a very respectable aircraft/airboat mechanic around Marion County and he has not seemed to be able to fix it at this point. He has cleaned the i...
