Re: whats the safest way to welf aluminum fuel tank?

Hoddy yall, here is the lo down, there is no safe way known to an airboater (maybe nasa), when you think you have a safe way you will not know till you strike the arc. What I did was do all that cleaning crap, let it dry, then take a long light stick (bamboo pole) treat it like a big match, (tape a ...

Re: How many quarts of oil does a 200 take

Hello, GMAC 76 is correct, for one of the sumps that came on the LYC 0360 angle valve engine. But it really depends on if you have a big tube or a small tube sump and even the model. There is one sump that holds only 6 quarts that came on a few of those engines. Not counting your cooler and external...

Re: Something to think about if new metal work is in your pl

Well Jeremy, not sure why you are so cranky but you can check out some of the places my boat has traveled at this youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/1bfc There is no sprayer system on the boat as you insinuate I think . Also, many many people can attest to what this boat is capable of. It...

Re: Something to think about if new metal work is in your pl

Out of curiosity... What is the weight difference? Hello, and thanks for reading. I dont really have the answer. I am for sure tho that a racer would not be concerned. Steel wire is by the pound on a roll, unless you use coat hangers and a torch which is what was used before the advent of...

And I have been stuck a lot other could not understand why I cairried a jeep jack on a airboat but is sounds like you would ! The new gen. Of air boaters buy not build ,builder...

Alternatively, don't go fast across dry ground and ease your way through. Better for the rider and the machine, regardless of contruction. I can,,, and my post is not about running the hill. I was stating a fact about a better way to build metal work. And if you tell me you just ease along on the h...

Re: Another motor mounting question

For the benefit of the poster, I will clarify that in the radical majority of all cases, it is the rear (prop end) motor mounts where the adjustment is made. Using the term 'nose mount' can be ambiguous and probably not much help to a newbie; especially when the term isn't applicable to an automoti...

Re: Another motor mounting question

"For the benefit of the poster, I will clarify that in the radical majority of all cases, it is the "rear" (prop end) motor mounts where the adjustment is made." Incorrect, why keep up the myth that the nose is the back of an aircraft engine? Also if OP is new to airboating why start off giving inco...

Something to think about if new metal work is in your plans.

,,,Ok you are out riding along somewhere in some marsh. Just a nice relaxing look everwhere, and dont forget over there, ride. Then around a curve,, ahead its dry for a good ways but you can make it. Mat the gas and hold on. Your body bouncing to and fro like you are on the back of a bull. Then your...

Re: New And Need Help With A build

Hello, just my 2 cents worth. First I think you are doing a good job on researching. Get all you can and take it for what its worth. IMO an automotive engine would not be the best choice. For one they will not turn up as quick as an aircraft even with a gear reduction. Go some place where you can se...

Just saying Hi with a tip.

Hello all I hope everyone had a fun, safe holiday. Also the two best times in a mans life is when he buys his first boat and second when he sells it. When looking to buy, remember, " you get what you inspect not what you expect". c ya'll.

Re: another "wanted" thread

I have an engine, which if one has an engine, one has a boat. 0-360 angle valve, true 200 wide journal crank, (standard bearings), Big tube sump, Two bendix impulse mags, Timed perfect with "0" RPM drop from one to the other "at any RPM", turns a Sensenich 68x38 stick prop 3,000 RPM. Mags were built...

engine stand should be built with an adjustable up and down nose mount. Dont have one. It can be added to yours. Makes it easy to tune in your hull.

Re: Prop below, level, or above transom??????

The lower the better!!! dont worry about the prop being down below transom. The end of all props flaten out under RPM and give no push at all. Push comes from the hub out where all the pitch is. I will say agin, simple test. Take a empty soda/beer can and put it on a flat surface. Take a finger an p...

Re: slick bottom, frog spit, steelflex. which one?

How about this, fiberglass hull only,,, make your own. Its easy and you can experiment. For a one time application buy it, if you need it slick more often, then make your own. For metal hull Seaflex or Steelflex, my preference would be Seaflex. good luck
