Re: airboat regs - louisiana

ON a light set up with a 180 you can go with 1/4'' poly and cut down on the weight. As for running across Lake Ponchatrain in a 12 airboat I wouldn't even considider it. That is asking for trouble. That lake can get rough real quick. I have a 12' with a 0360 200hp. I never run my boat in open water t...

Re: Any Life?

I'm from Morgan City also. I visit this site whenever I get a chance , a lot of good info here. I run a D.B. Ultra Light with 200 Lycoming. Made a couple frogging trips before the season closed. Water is too high right now to do much airboat riding. Will be chasing Reds and Specks soon.

I have sent my mags to Twister and when you get them back they are done right, and he can answer any questions you may have. Great guy to do business with.

Re: Places to ride in Louisiana!!

The Atchafalaya Basin has acres and acres you can ride in. Other than that you are correct most everything else is privately owned and you need permission from the land owner to ride an airboat on their property.

Re: Spray tank liquid

I'm dragging this out - sorry. But I seem to have a design flaw. I think I figured out two mysteries though. Once i fill my spray tank and squirt some I seem to start a siphoning process that continues to drizzle a small stream until it empties the tank. So now I know why it didn't seem to make a d...

Front Load sumps

Does a 0360 Angle Valve Lycoming 200 use the same size carb intake on the sump as the 170 and 180 HP?

Re: Starter problem in cold weather

No it's not the starter. I put a mark on the flywheel and a mark on one of the ring gear tooth. I hit the starter button and the ring gear slid half way around the flywheel.

Re: Starter problem in cold weather

After everything I did and tried this is what the problem REALY was. When the starter bendix was engaged to turn the flywheel over the ring gear was slipping around the flywheel. In cold weather the flywheel was contracting and when you tried to start the engine the ring gear just slid around the fl...

Re: Starter problem in cold weather

Well here is what I've found out. It is not amp problem. Brought the boat to the starter shop and checked it on the boat. The starter drive gear engages the engine ring gear and the starter drive gear is slipping. It took another set of eyes to see that. Ordered new drive gear. And by the way this w...

Re: Starter problem in cold weather

As I stated before I have had the boat for 4 years never had this problem. Same temps at this time of year never failed to turn engine over properly to start.I keep the engine timed so I never had to crank more than 5 or 6 rotations even incold weather.I have new battery, new larger cables ,negitive...

Re: Starter problem in cold weather

I bought a new battery when I had the starter checked out, don't think that is the problem. Also when I got home I hooked up the battery that came out of the boat to the battery charger, it showed fully charged in 5 minutes. I don't think it is a battery issue. I have had the boat for 4 years and th...

Starter problem in cold weather

I have a 200 Lycoming with high comp. pistons. The starter turns the engine over fine untill temps drop into the 30's or low 40's.When the temps get that cold the starter will not turn the engine over. The starter drive gear engages into the engine ring gear but will not turn the engine over. Here is ...

I have a 200 Lyc. on 11' 9" DB Ultralite. I have run a 68 Cypress and now run a 70" Q .The Q has more low end push that the Cypress did.The 70 " in a Signature would give good push but will be louder than the Q.

Engine runs rough in cold weather

Anyone run heat from the headers or muffler to the ventura on the carb to keep the moisture from freezing up and causing the engine to run rough in cold weather? If so I would like to see how it was done.Thanks.
