Re: 351w carb tuning

Probably not much help, but it should run fine on that carb. We run a Holley 670 vacuum secondary carb on my Son's DD. His timing is set at 34*, 70" Q series prop, turns 2800 - 2900, and it runs great.

Re: Need help figurung out what egine I have

They usually have a data plate mounted to the case in front of the right side mag (left side if you are standing behind the boat looking at the prop), if the data plate is still there, it will tell you what model and what HP at what RPM?

Re: Lost a legend and airboating Knowledge

There's a great video floating around on Facebook of his casket loaded on an airboat, and the airboat taking him on his final ride (running dry). The airboat takes his casket from across the street, to the church grounds where the service was held. I don't know how to copy from Facebook and past her...

It will be interesting to see how the 5 Water Thunder DD LS boats hold up. Anyone know if they did anything differen't for the thrust bearing load? Are they running conventional oil?

Re: first airboat

should i keep quick slip or polly the boat Again, that all depends on what you use it for. If you don't plan on running much dry ground, slick bottom is fine. The more dry you run, the more often you will have to reapply the slick bottom, and slick bottom does nothing to protect you hull. If you pl...

Re: anyone running a 350 with 2.1 box?

Birddog247 on this site runs an old 350 that he pulled from a van, 2:1 gearbox, 2 blade R, on an aluminum hull, and I've yet to see him sruggle on the hill with 2-3 people. The belt box in question weighs more than his gear box, but the combo operates the same. Set-up would dictate how it performs, ...

Re: anyone running a 350 with 2.1 box?

500lbft/ 400hp turns way way less prop and makes way less thrust than 400lbft/500hp according to my AC pocket protected fuzzy math excel calculator the engines have equal power and both exceed waterthunder thrust expectations :salute: I challenge any CM calculators to prove me wrong!! :stirpot: :fi...

Re: Airboat fuel question???

Need more info, how is it mounted? Electric fuel pumps are designed to push fuel, not draw it from the tank. The closer to the tank you can mount it the better. Does the tank have a pickup tube that draws from the top, or is the outlet mounted low (gravity fed). I run a Carter on one boat (car motor...

Looks like a great little boat, should serve your purpose well. If your future plans are just riding with your wife, it may be all the boat you'll ever need. Would be a nice frogging boat also.

Re: Blueprint 383 rebuild.

I had the same issue with a Blueprint 383 we purchased (used). The #7 piston had a broken ring land when we tore it apart. I replaced the piston, but honed all 8 cylinders and installed all new rings and bearings (crank and rods), reassembled, set the timing at 34 degrees total, and it's been runnin...

Like Rick's, mine is on the side of the case just below the base of #2 & #4 cylinders (IO-0470-L). A little tough to see and get to.

Re: Gear Box or Not

What prop is on it now? If it was a 350ci, I would suggest a 70" Q prop, and keep the rigging light and it would run the hill ok. Being a 305ci, I would venture to say a gear reduction of 2:1 and a 78" - 80" 2 blade would be needed at a minimum for it to perform anywhere near what you...

Re: Building a 70k airboat

Different strokes for different folks as they say. I understand a lot of folks don't have the means/ability/room to build and work on their own boats, but in my case, I take a lot of pride in the fact that I build most of my own stuff, from my airboats to my trucks and cars. I make a pretty decent l...

We run a "Cadillac batwing" style cleaner on my Son's small block. Should he get caught in the rain, he can just spin the air cleaner 180 degrees so the intake duct faces the back. Not the best setup, but works fine.

Post on here when and where you are riding, to see if any others may be riding that particular day. Another good source is Southern Airboat Facebook page if you do the Facebook thing. Always better...
