Re: BLEEDING LIFTERS 0470

I use a pair of vice tongs "c-clamp vicegrips" on the heel of the rocker at pushrod end, be careful not to disturb pushrod washers, seals. Once lifter deflates hold your mouth just right and push rocker shaft through bore while releasing grips, then reclamp to check lash. Thanks John. We'v...

Re: BLEEDING LIFTERS 0470

Turn prop until valve opens, wait a few minutes then turn to top dead center on compression. That will bleed them down. Thanks Gary. What I'm trying to accomplish is installing the rocker arms. Right now, I can't get the rocker arm shaft in because the pushrods are extended a little too far, even on...

BLEEDING LIFTERS 0470

I just replaced 3 cylinders on my IO-0470. I'm assuming I need to bleed the lifters before installing the pushrods and checking the lash? If so, can you bleed the lifters while still in the case?

Re: A man's word

Similar thing happened to me over a year ago. Drove 1.5 hours to pick up a 383 shortblock to replace my Son's blown up 350. The guy showed me the paperwork saying it was a Blue Print series 385" shortblock. Pistons and cylinders looked pretty good, said it ran great. Said the only reason he pul...

Re: Good deals thread

That's a pretty good deal! That's what I paid for my 54DV, which is a smaller version (5" screen). I do like the DV units, so much I bought 2, one for my boat, one for my Son's boat.

Re: 3A-3B closed ?

They don't want to drown that silly Cape Sable Seaside Sparrow in the ENP!!! So they will drown everything else. Yup!!! I actually saw an interview with one official, he said that although the situation was bad for the fur bearing animals, they would eventually recover whereas the sparrow would not...

Re: Wreck At The Milk Bus?

I was there. He was concious, talking, but was in pain. He hurt his back, and dislocated his shoulder. He said he had a previous back injury/surgery, and may have aggrevated that. Took the Sherrif helicopter an hour to get there. They had to send another private boat to the Overstreet Landing to pic...

Personally Tim, I think it may work out better for some. With the Heroes run in 2A scheduled for May 28th, it's a good possibility folks couldn't ride 2 consecutive days? A week between may actually benefit some folks?
