Re: Rigging a new Scorpion 12x7'2"

Excellent. Congrats on the maiden voyage. Yea, they plane very easily. I wonder how different it will run with the 520. Let me know when you're going out. I'll ride with ya. I am planning to bring it to Airboat club Thursday for a ride, Hoping to go early, but have the lights on so we can ride afte...

Re: Rigging a new Scorpion 12x7'2"

Maiden Voyage today, 5 weeks since purchasing the hull, It ran smooth, no hopping, very free riding hull, It got on plane with no effort at all, It seemed to be on plane already just above idle. It rides like a sled, not at all like a boat. It is now my favorite riding hull, can't wait till I can ta...

Re: Rigging a new Scorpion 12x7'2"

Thanks Gary and Slidin Gator, got the tank mounted and plumbed, got the rigging mostly Painted, seems it's hard to spray the wire, most of the paint just blows away, so I'm thinking about using a paint brush or a roller on the wire mesh, the rest came out looking good. next I'm going to put it all t...

Re: Rigging a new Scorpion 12x7'2"

Hardtail, post some info on the welding hood with lenses. I have found the best results by drinking and telling my son how to weld, but sometimes I have to get it done! I got the Miller digital Elite Series 281000 plus the $8 magnifying lens that slides inside the window, I like the way this helmet...

Re: Rigging a new Scorpion 12x7'2"

I'm working on mounting the 28 gallon gas tank, Do I need to put anything between the tank and angle supporting it? I'm going to use a hold down clamping the tank down with all-thread, so it shouldn't move or vibrate. I thought about using RTV or a piece of inner-tube on the bottom, but it might hol...

Re: Rigging a new Scorpion 12x7'2"

Slidin Gator, It is a lot more work than I thought it was, to look at an Airboat rigging looks simple till you start bending and welding pipe, but it is satisfying to look at the progress though

Re: Rigging a new Scorpion 12x7'2"

Which setup is for which application? Slidin Gator, I haven't decided which one in best for the Minnesota hunting yet, but if the 200 Lycoming can push that hull would be my first choice, that is the reason I'm setting it up first, I still have the 520 on my Hopping Hamant which is a pain to ride, ...

Re: Rigging a new Scorpion 12x7'2"

Personally I think you will be happier when the 0360 is on it than when the 520 is on it. $ people and 520 on that platform just doesn't look like a good idea to me, Gary, I have both motors, and would like the 200 HP lighter motor to be enough power to run dry on that heavy of a hull, so I'm tryin...

Rigging a new Scorpion 12x7'2"

I'm starting a Build on my new 12 x 7'2" .125 6061-T6 ASTM with 3/8" poly Scorpion Riveted hull myself this time, and my plan is to set it up to run it with 2 different rigs and motors, I'm first building it with an IO-360 with 2 seats. Then building it rigged with IO-520 four seats. I'm going to us...

Re: I'm Building 2 Stossel Boats with High Torque Motors

I'm thinking about trying a tractor seat with 5.5 inches of travel, and can be adjusted from 130 lbs to 300 lbs, so you can set it so you don't bottom out even on large bumps,
