Re: Whirlwind stump puller

It says that was my 1st post? Weird. I've been on here for a while. Thanks for the input tho! Been in the glades since I was a kid but stepped away for a bit. There were no carbon fiber props back then. So I built a new boat and got this stump puller prop and wanna make sure the pitch is right on th...

Best oil additive for 220?

Got a 220 gpu with weakest cylinder pushing 95psi and the strongest at 110psi. What's a good oil additive to help regain some compression and prolong the life of my old 1959 gpu? How many quarts of A100 to how many quarts of additive? Heard Lucas was the best?

Warp drive on 220

Came across a 63" warp drive really cheap. I'm currently spinning a stick prop(74"). What's the upside to the warp drive besides safety. Is 63" to small for a 220?

Cool can for 220

On old muscle cars they would run what was called a cool can that your fuel line was coiled tightly in packed with ice. It gave better detonation and increased power a little. They are easy to make but I was wondering if it has been tried on an airboat. Thinking of trying it with my 220 gpu.

12ft air gator

Just picked up this little 12ft air gator aluminum hull. Was thinking about putting a 4.3 vortec in the boat. I know they used to make an aluminum version (cast iron version is over 500lbs) in the 90s. I know a 4cyl lycoming would work to. Any suggestions on power plants ?

I too have a stock 220 gpu. Interested in the NGQ as well. From what I gather a 3 blade is to much for a stock 220 unless you get the 0470 Pistons.

Thanks guys. Was just looking for all ways to lighten the boat. 2-3 lbs here ,, 2-3 lbs there. It all adds up. But it seems like this is a bad idea. John I'll text you about your muffler idea

Aluminum flex

Anyone using the aluminum automotive flex in place of steel flex for exhaust? Found some and was wondering what pros and cons would be? Obviously a little weight savings but any negative sides?

Re: 220 GPU?

Leak down test is the most crucial thing you can do and ask the guy to take you out on it for an hour or so. That'll tell you how much blow by there is and how strong the motor is.
