Re: POC area

I'm from Angleton, but would love to drag the boat down and see that area with someone who knows it well!

Longhorn Custom Fab?

Hey Guys, A buddy of mine is evaluating a lightly used Longhorn Custom Fab boat.. Any experience / feedback on this particular builder? Their website is fairly light and I haven't been able to locate a tremendous amount of information on their boats.. Any information would be appreciated! Appears to...

LS3 Oil Cooler / Oil Change

Thanks Comanche.. I really like the idea of flipping the cooler from a mechanical perspective in that it would be much easier to fit a drain valve on either of the ports.. However I think that would create a situation making purging air from the system very difficult.. Regarding temperature stratifi...

Re: LS3 Oil Cooler / Oil Change

No way tilting the trailer would help.. Would really have to flip the boat upside down.. Ill have to look at the Filter Adapter to see if I can get a compressed air line on it.. Thought about taking it out and welding in a bung and drain valve at the lowest point.

LS3 Oil Cooler / Oil Change

Hey All, I have a MAST 550 Cyclone on my "new to me" 17x8 Air Ranger. I'm getting close to time to change the oil for the first time on this engine. I'm also a bit anal about maintenance on my equipment, and have run into a situation I hadn't anticipated. This boat has an oil cooler mounted below th...

Re: Rides Anytime Soon?

Anyone from further down south west towards Corpus? I understand there's lots of water down there and would love to follow someone around for a day and maybe pick up some reds!

Re: Rides Anytime Soon?

Wallisville is a hoot... Plenty of marsh out there.. Also lots of territory west of Galveston Island down through Matagorda.. Lots of shallow water but it's WMA so can't run over emergent or submergent vegetation..

Rides Anytime Soon?

Hey Guys..

Pretty new to Airboating, but been a Texas boy all my life.. Are there any rides planned anytime soon? Trying to get connected with some other airboat owners..

Home base is Angleton, little south of Houston.

Re: All new, need experienced guidance..

So got home in plenty of time today to take the boat out. Everything went perfectly. Really took our time with launch, and chose a ramp / location that is 95% shallow water. Eased at idle to a large shallow flat, probably 100 acres of 5-8" deep water with a soft muddy bottom. Spent several hours lea...

Re: All new, need experienced guidance..

Gonna spend some time easing into this thing and then plan a trip back over to fish on O before early Teal season kicks off in Tx.. I'll bring the wife and spend a week or so in SoFl..

Re: All new, need experienced guidance..

Yep.. Boat is great. Headed back to Texas, gotta business trip on Monday and didn't want to try to pull 20hrs from O on Sunday.. Crashing in Tallahassee tonight. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1437101419.470870.jpg I'm really pleased with the quality and condition of the boat. 71 total hours and it's nearly...

Re: All new, need experienced guidance..

Blow Boat - I don't think it's a great idea for me to head to the Big-O till I've put in some serious hours on the stick.. If Airboat rides are anything like the mudboat rides I frequent in my prodrive, it's no place for a newb.

Re: All new, need experienced guidance..

I've found an Old Timer here locally that actually used to run with the Floyd's a bit back in the day that's willing to spend some serious time with me. He is still an active and avid airboater and knows the water well where I will be running. He's a straight shooter and won't hesitate to put my in ...

Thanks for the info and the guidance. I will certainly seek out appropriate training. I realize this is a different animal than what I am accustomed to and will treat it accordingly.
