Re: 4.3 DD Prop

the problem with your 262 hp engine is that it makes that hp at 5000 rpm's. if you are going direct drive, cut your hp figure in half since you will be turning half or less rpm's. probably something like a 66X32 i would guess. good little cruising engine. won't burn much fuel. make a good frog boat...

Kinda like cruising at 1200 boat loaded and to me WOT is 3000 then the Prop gets louder than mufflers .

Here is one if A n B are the lines 1 n 2
1 n 3 are the run windings
2 n 4 would be starting windings, switch and capacitor

Hey Jim saw your boat when we run together up on the red, what these guys are trying to tell you is you are starving your prop, reason you can turn it up is not too much horsepower rather air starvation, simple way to learn this is take a box fan cut two pieces cardboard, one same size as box other...

You will be very happy with your setup, and your fuel economy. Is that Swamphunter's engine, and prop? If so, I think he has a 76" NGQ. We usually run together in Hernando/Potts, and most of the time we come home with half a tank of gas. Just make sure your run 93 octane, and AV gas blend. Good luc...

Not fine but I was referring to Boats with props screwing thru water and fixed gear ratio 15% slip . They usually need to be geared to reach a recommended W.O.T. or the wont last weather aluminum or cast iron engine .
