Handles the weight good,,,,,this motor is just alittle lighter than a 0-540..raidator and all. Remember,,,,,with regards to the boat....its weight down VS cubic inches of d...

Re: The Game Changer
So Davie GSO480, I’ve seen the pics of boats you have owned in the past. You and I have very similar tastes in boats (riveted aircraft hulls with 540 power). For your ‘next’ boat, would you stay this DD route, go LS w/gearbox, or go back to aircraft? Good question man...depends what you want out of...

Re: The Game Changer
The cam is one part of getting the direct drive to respond and run like it does. Why would Water thunder give away his cam spec's? My engine idle at 650 rpm's. The cam lope goes away at 900 rpm... Propellers tip speed is your limit here, the longer the prop, the faster the tip speed at the same eng...

Re: The Game Changer
Some of the credit for the way that boat runs belongs to John fenner he set the bottom and replaced all of the soft rivets it had in the bottom, it went 90 with a bone stock 235 horse 540 on it Yep John was at our club the second time I took this rig out,,,He was with Cory and his then new FedUp bo...

It is what it is...it aint a full racer, but it is a fun boat to ride, performs amazing well, snaps hard. Remember its about 20% displacement disadvantage to a 0 540 Those thrust numbers were on tester, not a boat.....No cage etc in the way. The 3 blade Alpha is the only prop we tested that work in...

Re: considering a GSO 480 for my 12 ft sled ?
The GSO 480, is heavy..500 pounds+ If it has a gear box, its very long...Andy's boat DD, built was 14' long. The rear seat will have Carb clearance issues. Without a gear box, it has no internal thrust bearing..... The supercharger seal is very expensive..800+ If you can find one, I sold 2 to Jr a f...

There is a small berm and ditch that runs parell to the Tamiami trail on south side,,,,and there are 29 sets of culverts under the trail as well,,that you cant see, unless you look for them...,,,of course removing the berm and creating a path for more water to flow would be easy......but no...lets b...

Re: SBC 350 with overheating issues
Poping backfire usually indicated a lean condition. Airboat motors need more fuel due to constant load. If its an "out of box" carb., id go up 4 jet sizes and read plugs. As well, pull and check your spark plugs, run the coldest plug you can run, a hot plug will also cause backfire. Total ...

Re: power issues on 400 smb direct drive
First get the engine level...VERY important ...........use the prop plate. as reference... Then measure in like 1 inch, put blue tape at the 1 inch mark,,,,,,measure each blade the same, 1 inch in from end. Take a pitch reading........so you know where you are at now. each degree will make about 200...

Re: Super slick 2000 fasco
grind the hull with 80 grit
wash with purple soap
asitone
I apply the regular steel flex
Then the 2000 on top
Seems to last longer and stick better
Do it on a sunny day at noon....
A trowel used for tile setting to spread it arround evenly, then a roller front to back, side to side works it out
