Re: Big Block Aluminum Heads

Thank you all for your opinions and advice. I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on a new engine. Ordered a 572 Big block. lol
Its going to be a beast! It should be done in a few weeks. Built to exactly what I was wanting.

Re: Big Block Aluminum Heads

Joe is correct, Aluminum is part of the power package, thanks for the correction. You need to start at the beginning, what do you have? Boat, weight, motor as it stands now, prop, gear and what it turns at WOT. You are looking to spend some money, so it is best to plan it out now to get the results...

Re: Big Block Aluminum Heads

Aluminum is just for shedding weight?!?!? There are so many advantages to aluminum heads, weight is just one and is low on the totem pole. Picking the right head for what you have is paramount. Just saying you have a 454 and thinking of aluminum heads is not enough info for a rational opinion. So m...

Big Block Aluminum Heads

I don't know too much when it comes to engines but i am debating on buying some aluminum heads for my 454. They are pretty pricey, I just don't know if it would be worth it power and performance wise or it is mainly for shedding weight? The cast heads are pretty heavy as you would know..anyone with ...

Re: Aluminum hull questions

I got my poly from polymer systems llc. UHMW black and the cheapest I've found. You'll save even with shipping costs. What I did was clean the bottom up real good, strap the poly down where i wanted it, started from the center and worked my way out using the existing holes. Got on top, countersink t...

Re: Polymer Price's

Give polymer systems a call. They have very reasonable prices and will help you out anyway they can. Ask for Mike.
He will hook you up. I outfitted my entire boat with 3/8 on bottom and sides for $1000.

Digital Gauges

Has anyone used a module or a Digital gauge set up for your instrument panel? I have been doing some reading and wanted to put something together. I was wanting to run a gps unit and have a module with Ethernet networking with that along with the proper sending units to my engine. So I could swap ba...

Best Lights for Saltwater

Anyone have some suggestions or reviews on some lights that you have used for bow fishing or floundering in Saltwater? I have been a long time bow fisherman but mainly in fresh water. The lights I have used doesn't seem to cut it. I built a flounder boat last year and decided to spend the money on t...

I am fairly new to airboating and I have been reading some of these posts and think I am goin to be running into some problems. I have a 18x8 trailboss and currently rebuilding it. The cage I have was built for a max of 74" prop. My engine is a 454 bored over .30 and is running close to 600hp. I was...

Re: Poly Install.........Screws,Rivets, or Bolts?

I am in the process of reinstalling ploymer on my boat and I removed the old polymer and cut all of The bolts off and now I'm tryin to remove the old 5200. My question is could I sand it down, brush on new 5200 and put the new polymer on? It is a serious pain to grind, sand all of the 5200 off down ...
