Re: WHY

This is on some private property in South Louisiana. My wife's family owns the land and never goes back there. I'm most likely the first person to be on the property since the poles were changed.

Re: WHY

The front passenger went for a ride. He is an elderly gentleman who was just diagnosed with lung cancer. An airboat ride was on his bucket list. He said he would come back for another ride any day.

Hello and welcome to SA and the airboat addiction.......... both Deano and Mojoe I think answered your question well I would just add that airplane motors where born to turn a prop , car motors can do it also but have to be taught too do so ......................... :fishing :stirpot: https://uploa...

ZZ3 or ZZ4

I was told my boat has a ZZ3 or a ZZ4. I know the block is supposed to be stamped as one or the other near the left head behind the water pump. Should this stamp be visible with everything intact or does the water pump or head need to come off? I have an oil leak coming from either under the water p...

Re: Custom Airboat Trailers out of Brooksville

I'm wondering what kind of actual price to ship one of these trailers to Texas... I looked at U-ship and "estimated" it a couple of different ways. First I put it under vehicles since there wasn't a trailer listing in the boat section and came up with $897. If I "estimated" it u...

Re: Oil coolers

Put a temp. probe where the oil drain plug is. I have found oil Temp. is a few degrees above water temp. . An oil cooler is another point of failure, how ever small. If you don't need a cooler avoid the potential problem. Would said probe replace the oil pan drain plug or drill and tap a new hole? ...
If, up the road you changed pulleys to a 2.3 ratio, chances of using that third blade would be radically improved.
With a 2.3 ratio the engine needs to turn 5635RPMs to achieve the prop speed of 2450RPMs. Do you set the pitch to allow you to turn the full 5635RPM or do you set the pi...

Re: Oil coolers

Sorry about that. I'm running a zz4 on a Pathmaker 13x6.5 with a 2:1 reduction. I stay loaded up and running dry. I use this boat to hog hunt with dogs. Last time out I had 2 people and 6 dogs to get to the hunting grounds. After we turned loose, I had 2 people and a 75# catch dog. Sent from my SAMS...

Oil coolers

Are oil coolers generally deemed a necessity? My boat doesn't currently have a cooler. I'm thinking if the oil temp regularly gets to xx° I should invest in the cooler. What temp would y'all say deems a cooler necessary? Also, if I put an oil cooler will the extra capacity and lower operating temper...

Re: R.A.C.E. engine builders

Those r good motors, just a weak valve train..get on it before its too late if you've got a bunch of hrs on it. I have no idea of the hours on the motor or if the valve train has been upgraded. I will have to poke around before too long. It sounds like a leak down test may be in order. Thanks for t...

Re: R.A.C.E. engine builders

I just recently had him re do my 397. So far very happy with it like I was when FELBER built it. He definitely has the right equipment and understanding how to properly put a motor together. If your going SBC Stroker I have a Block that is fine, just needs bore re done. Thanks. When the time comes,...

R.A.C.E. engine builders

Has anyone here had a motor built by Redline Automotive Competition Engines in Davie, FL? I've seen some of their videos on Facebook and spoke with Rich Jones. I like what I've seen so far.

Thanks

Re: Pulling an airboat???

It was just a thought. I'm still new to air boating. I am just a bit hesitant to load a couple people and a pack of hog dogs in an airboat and run 20 miles deep water a few times a week. I will most likely take two boats down the river and leave the airboat on the hunting grounds. I work 7 days and ...

Pulling an airboat???

Is it a bad idea to pull my airboat behind my outboard? I have a 20 mile run to get to my hunting grounds.
