Re: Ecotec gearbox adapter

Yeah. I was talking to him the past couple of weeks to get an adapter he had. It’s crazy he passed just like that.

Re: Ecotec gearbox adapter

Ballistic makes a box already. It is $3495 for the box plus shipping. Chuck made a really nice adaptor that was tapped for the oil lines and allowed you to use any SBC box which was a great option. I’d like to use an OX drive, but might be stuck with the ballistic unfortunately. Sent from my iPhone ...

Re: Chuck. James Rackley

This is crazy. I was just emailing with him last week about picking up an ecotec adapter from him. He said his son was in the hospital so I told him focus on that and get back to me on the parts. I had no idea. Sorry to hear he passed. He seemed like a good man. Prayers to his family and that his so...

Ecotec gearbox adapter

I’m looking for a gear box adapter for an LNF Ecotec like chuck used to make. Anyone know where I can find one?

Re: Which prop on 2.0T Ecotec

Unfortunately, I’m limited to 76” inside my cage. I think you’re friends with my buddy John with the Stossil style hull and ecotec. He’s been helping me a lot on this swap. I’m leaning towards the prop he has. I’ve always had whirlwind, but hear good things about Sinsenich. Sent from my iPhone using...

Which prop on 2.0T Ecotec

Getting ready to put an LHU on my boat. Trying to decide between a 76” Whirlwind or Sinsinech 3 blade. Need some opinions and why. Thanks

if I remember right your engine WAS fuel injected av i0-470 so there is no truly matched carb ever built for that engine...so I built a carb for an oem 0-470 carbureted engine which is as close as I could get...you asked if there was any other tuning options for your setup....... yea there is ...th...

Tuning an o470?

Is there anything tunable about an MA4-5 carbed a/v o470 besides the lean rich screw?

What does it say you run for pressure? I know where you're talking about. Not sure if it would read correctly there.

Good place to get oil pressure reading on 470

Where is the best place to hook up for my oil pressure on an 0470? My old gpu was just behind the oil filter. This engine has a port there also, but not sure if it's a good spot.

Tricks to freeing up stuck lifters?

I have two stuck lifters in the motor I'm putting together. They are stuck out to the snap ring. Anyone got any ideas on freeing them up? I don't want to beat on them.

Re: Lots of 0470 questions.

Don't know if you were aware of this or not . . . but there is a manual right here for that engine: http://www.southernairboat.com/pdf/aircraftengines/continental/470/Continental_0-470_15_O.pdf If you right click on that link and then select "Save target as ...." you can download it and have a copy...

Lots of 0470 questions.

Putting together an 0470-15. This is really my first aircraft motor, besides replacing jugs on a 220. So I've got questions. First is, what do I need on this case besides the mags obviously? And what do I need to block off? I seem to be missing the tach cable mount it looks like also. I haven't real...

From what I've been told .060-.090 bottom dead on the lobe with lifter compressed. And set as close as possible to each other.

Re: GPU accessory case on E185?

Yes, I have done it, basic modification to start with bit tricky part was machining oil pressure relief valve into cover, the rest is like doing a dual mag conversion on a gpu, you will need to machine a crank gear spacer out of .125 aluminum and use a 220 crank and cam gear plus mag drive gears an...

GPU accessory case on E185?

About to swap to the 185 motor and the mags sit way higher than on the gpu where they sat under my rear seat. I hear the gpu case can be used on the E185. What has to be done to swap them and what has to be machined? Is it worth the work? Sent from my iPhone using Southern Airboat mobile app powered...

Re: Pickled engines?

Yea, you can also squirt some Marvel Oil in the cyls when you remove the plugs to prevent dry metal-to-metal rubbing when you first turn it over to prime it. If ya don't mind taking a video when you fire it up. Sure would like to see it when it comes to life. I sure can. Gonna watch it fog out the ...

Re: Pickled engines?

A bit depends on what the person who pickled it did to preserve the internals. As a very basic suggestion first do a good visual inspection, remove all spark plugs, spray cylinders with a mild thin lubricant (Marvel Mystery), change oil and filter, verify coolant if appicaple, with a breaker bar at...

Re: Looking for options to replace my 220

Here's a couple pics after pulling 5 jugs off. #1 took out #2. 1 is stuck in the block for now and 2 I had to pull the rod with the piston to get it out. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170404/ee987aa4376d2256838c0465ec7478b5.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170404/4b20264418ecc4bc880dc6c44...
