Re: PHANTOM STARTS

Damn!

I’ve been running and riding in airboats for 50+ years, and have never heard of, much less seen, such a thing.

That’ll make you go to church (and buy a lotto ticket, too!) :angel4:

Well, we got nine years out of the first set of stainless flex pipe and Flowmasters, and have three years so far on the second set. I expect to get several more years out of these, as we found that on the first set, the flex pipe was under quite a bit of stress, which we alleviated in routing the p...

As A Law Enforcement officer for 29 years I can tell you you got butt heads in every state in the union, certain states just seem to have more than others , my family has been in Palm Beach County since the 1870's and the family's business was started in 1893 so I'm very deep rooted in Fla history ...

Believe this material is close to optimal overall. If you go with this, do not say the words "Air Boat" when talking with them. http://www.superslide.com/products/hoppers-bins/yellow-quartz I know it's not local to the area you asked about, but since you are looking for 3/8 this material ...

Re: BBC Oil Cooler opinions?

Mine generally runs at 125-137.5 F, so I don’t know that the oil is getting hot enough to make an oil cooler necessary.

It’s been running in that temp range for over 11 years now (without an oil cooler.)

Yes, it is.

I always shut everything off (except the auto bilge pumps) that way.

Re: Battery Help

I’ve been running the Perco switch and dual batteries in boats for many years without issue.

I currently have that same setup in both an airboat and a pontoon boat.

I’ve been there.

It’s not a place you'd want to be, and the area you go through to get there isn’t either.

Mine does too, if I really get on it when loaded down.

When I’m by myself, only about the last three feet of the hull is touching the water when on the plane.

Re: Floral city hull opinions

Rick Mcc, what setup do you have and does it run dry ok? I know it’s more about the setup than anything just curious on how the hull reacts compared to another. Stay pretty flat in the turns? Plan on? Thanks again.... Well I’ve never run it “dry” as most on here seem to mean; running through pastur...

My boat is a FC, an ‘07 built in late ‘06.

After 11 years of running exclusively in salt water, the hull is still in great shape, as is everything else.

Re: Strickly Redfish Boat

It really is not that big of a concern if the correct alloy is used. Sometimes a corrosion problem can be found where the screws (stainless) go through the aluminum as they are dissimilar metals but that is usually late in the boats life. What is really bad for aluminum is to have carpeted bunks ma...

Thanks for all your help!! Just get one (outboard squeeze bulb) on the more expensive end of the prices. The last one I bought (from Walmart) was @$20.00. Most these days are made to handle ethanol. That’s why they cost so much more than they used to. That said, I only use ethanol-free gas in my ai...

Re: Steering

When my Dad had our boat built 12 years ago, it came with a cable that didn’t have near enough travel either way, though one side was a little better than the other. I told him that he needed to insist that they change it out for a different style cable. They did, and the steering’s been much better...
