Re: Almost gator bait!!

It was a real slow head bobbing around without any real mouth movement or a real body so based on this logic it’s real. What kinda real, that’s an individual opinion based on logic they have experienced through their lifetime here in the real world. Again, sorry for the rant.. damn beer.

Re: Mess At The Ramblin' Rose

Not knowing the whole story until now I rescind my earlier statement. Had it been a legal hunt and someone used my dock and cleaned up after themselves I would be okay with it. I have no issue helping fellow outdoorsman out. Now that the whole story is out I am pissed at the nerve of these asshats. ...

While walking our jon boat through skinny water last week due to mechanical issues my foot managed to find a broken bottle. Idiots abound everywhere, time to remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Re: New here ... just discovered your addiction

Take your wife ot for a ride and she will get the bug. Mine was hell bent against me building my first blow boat, took her out on my brother in laws and she changed her tune. Now I catch her watching airboat videos on youtube and she keeps asking when I will get the boat finished so we can go sliding.

Re: Glassing in stringers

I recently picked up a 12' gilleo hull in need of glass work including stringers. I was fortunate that a client of my wife's has been glassing boats for over 40 years and came out of retirement for my project. I was going to do the work myself but for the money I am much more confident having a pro ...

Rot Doctor

So it begins. Dropped my hull off for glass work. 4 new stringers and some other issues. One of my wife's clients has been glassing boats for over 40 years and is giving me a hell of a deal. Now that the ball is rolling I have a feeling it's only gonna roll faster. Thanks for the sage advice y'all. ...

Re: Rot Doctor

Like everything the quick fix is never the best fix. Looks like I will brush up on my glassing skills and do it the right way. Might as well embrace the suck now as opposed to having to just tear it all apart down the road.

Anyone ever use Rot Doctor or any other type of epoxy to repair small areas of rot on stringers?

Good to know. My engine came out of an older ski boat. Wanting to do the build on the cheap. My brother got me hooked on blow boats and once you have the itch, well you know. Were in central Florida. Just getting started on my build. Have a 4.3 as well. Is your engine stock or did you modify it any? If so what mods? You have a nice looking set up and it sounds like it performs well.

Re: 4.3 DD Prop

It will not be an issue if you are going to do a quality rebuild. When the block and heads go to the machine shop and they hot tank it that scale and corrosion should dissolve away. If I understand the Mercruiser 4.3 platform it is essentially a SBC with 2 cylinders removed. As such my best direct ...

Re: 4.3 DD Prop

Was it a raw water cooled engine or did it have a sealed cooling system? I ask because if it was a raw water cooled engine used in salt or brackish water the chance of rust and scale would be very concerning. An airboat uses a sealed system configuration where corrosion and scale will restrict the ...

Excellent point, the boat it came out of was single engine. Spent my younger years skiing behind it. I will check it out to be safe. Would not look real cool going backwards.

Re: 4.3 DD Prop

Also, you may want to check and make sure that the engine is not a counter rotation setup. I've heard that it is sometimes found to be the case at least in dual engine boats where one engine spins clockwise and the other goes counterclockwise (not familiar with the particular one that was mentioned...

Re: 4.3 DD Prop

So, is that to imply that it was formerly mated to a Mercruiser stern drive? If so, it would behoove you to at least swap the cam for something more productive at lower rpms. Swamphunter's question is beyond passively relevant because you will need everything you can get out of it without leaving a...
