Can't you pull a hub bolt and tell by the size if it has an 360 crank in it?

That's an old school palm beach style dogleg steering. Tightest I've ever driven. Can't beat a riveted hull.

It's a sacrificial anode.helps prevent electrolysis on your hull. For boats that normally stay in the water. A big tour boat is the only airboat that I would think that ever needs one (Stays in water).Any boat that touches salt water should have one for sure. Ive probably changed a 1000 of them thing...

2 ounces a gallon and this was on an old c10 Chevy. Engine builder said to do it so I did. Ran like a bat outta hell and never skipped a beat. Truck had a low gear in the ass and never fouled out 1 plug.

It's expensive but a little maxima 927 castor oil smells real good. Used to run it in a 383 with the gas and had great results. Never folded a single plug/ 2 years.

Re: freedom ride water?

Kwan can you post up the link for the water down there? I have never been on the Kissimmee chain, is there any water in the marsh? I think with all the rain there may very well be.

Re: Part number for starter

I run a toyota cressida starter, it is bigger than the one I replaced, I think from a celica? The bigger (longer) starter is definitely better. Bring your old one to napa and have em pull a few off the shelf, you will know what ya need. Stay away from the cheapos at advance or discount, unless your ...

Re: Lycoming 320 starting procedure

Hold up, I think you may have an alternator that needs to be excited, is there a hole on the back of alternator with a spade connector? I had a mud truck years ago that was like that. There should be 2 spade connectors in the housing, plug it in each one and check your battery volts while running vs...

Re: Lycoming 320 starting procedure

You have a delco 1 wire alternator, I dont know exactly what whoever was thinking? If that red wire touches anything it will be bad news for the diodes in the alternator. Looks like the black wire is what goes to the hot wire on the starter, but looks a bit small for an alternator that puts out 70+ ...

Re: Noob engine choices, what makes a good motor

Yep seen many a ls 5.3 on a boat straight outta the truck, change the cam and carb it. DO NOT change the thermostat unless building the motor back up again, newer engines are built to run hot. And keep it under 5500 rpm.

Re: Ducted fan on jon boat 14x36 will it work?

Find an airboat hull and slap a jet ski motor in it. I have a 12x7 with a yamaha 760 in it, it will run 2 inches of sand bottom all day until you stop, then you need at least 8" to pop back on a plane. Great gas mileage, electric start, stick steering, low maintenance, can build for pretty cheap.

Re: The dreaded question...

My little 12' boat weighs around 700 pounds I figure, if I keep it in skinny water and keep my foot out of it she sips fuel. I logged almost 65 miles in one day, burned around 10 or 11 gallons. And that was some dry running and quite a bit of deep water too. Cruise at around 1800 in deep water, abou...

Quick slick hands down. I spray 2 gallons on a 12x7 all at once and its ready to ride in a day. Easy to recoat hot spots, just sand it and lay it on again.

Put it on saw horses, on the stringers, it's a good height to work on and can even walk on the hull if need be.

You should be able to set the timing to whatever you choose at whatever rpm. I'm not too familiar with the electronic setups on air boats but even the cdi on my 4 wheeler can be set up like that.

Re: Looking for an airboat painter in Broward/Palm Beach

The Martin senour paint from napa is some good stuff. The 2 part with reducer is what I used on a mako I redid a few years ago and it has held up great. Not bad priced and have tons of colors. Don't know anyone down there to spray it but any good paint and body shop should have no problem laying it ...

Re: Lycoming 320 starting procedure

Reorder your switches whichever way you please but always put the most important 3 to start or stop the motor (pump and mags) on the side you like best by FEEL and just remember what does what. I wouldn't want to be looking for tags on mag switches when my boat is stuck wide open...and it's no race ...
