i change the crosover tube and it made a huge diffrence in running quality
no more snoking at mid range and much better Throttle response

also when I had the plugs are checking them did a compression on the motor but I didn’t have a proper differential compression tester to do with the way they do in the airplanes I just had an automotive style I got about 150 psi on all cylinders is that normal ?

Yeah the mixture control seems to be working fine but what do you mean by economizer is that the idle mixture control screw on the front of the carburetor ? And yes the two cylinders that are closest to the crossover tube at the back of the motor seem to be running much richer than all the rest

so o have been playing with my boat a bit and itseem to Be running very rich between 1500 rpm and 2000 RPM .I was talking to and aircraft engine builder and he mentioned when they do the aircraft conversion they also change the crossover tube on the back of the motor to the 04 70 crossover tube whic...

i was thinking of getting rid of my aircraft plugs in my 0520 and putting in some automotive styles plugs
what plugs should i get ?
were do i get a good set of wires ? is there any specifics on the wires

i found 4404 carb it seems to work ok
but i seem to have fould a plug so its running rough

ya they have a notch in the threads
but they are the same shape as Nylock nuts

i was thiking of using a cole Chisel and just deforming the end of the nut a little bit

io520 exaust problem

i have benn having a problem my exaust keeps becoming loose i have had the a bunch of the nuts fall right off ! dose any know why this would happen ? i am using the aircraft nuts on the cylinders studs , is there any lock tight or special washers ??

i use a 6 foot long piece of 6” plastic culvert to park on at night or any time i stop , it works realy nice never sticks to the hull and is a great way to get moving

its a foot peddle it has a long arm that is attached to the dashboard so the brake pedal itself is about 2 feet long which gives you really good lever .Ithe brake works good because you can drag it gently on the ice to keep you from fishtailing but still be able to lift it off the ice so you can con...

i would stay away from any runners under the boat it would make it hard to handel close to shore.

these are what we use on our boats in ontario canada they work great!
they work as a ice break and a trim tab

i do have a couple more props that i can try, i was just checking to see how much prop other people can run with a similar motor.
my motor was and io520 aircraft fuel injection motor that i converted to carb
with a ma4-5 4404 carb off of a 0540 and
it just seens low on power .

i have a 36x72 wide blade sensenich wood blade on a 0520 carb and i think i might be down on power . i thought it would spin that prop ovet 3000 rpm but it only hits 2750, dose that seem right to u guys or am i down on power

need help 0520 carb set up

i’m looking for any information that I can get on setting up a Ma4–5 4893-1 carb On a 0520 Continental ,I was told that I would have to drill the main fuel nozzle but I don’t know what drill bit do you use and if there is any thing eles that should be done ?
