Re: Boat run dry better with motor forward or back?

. . . but am wondering if the motor so far forward made the boat run better on dry? Absolutely not. That Branch DD Cam is to be credited for that. . . . but what runs better dry? Motor to the rear or motor farther forward?? Matters not. You are placing your concern on a comparatively irrelevant par...

Re: gotta rebuild

My first post here looks like I missed the obvious. :banghead: It was only my intent to address the CadCo vs Buddy Branch indecision. I guess because the DD/Gearbox had already been debated so thoroughly, that when I read 7-800 hp I thought you had already got over that hump. My bad. RadTech, I woul...

That thermostat thread referenced above can be found here: https://southernairboat.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=69615&p=675407 This is vital information to be aware of if you are going to be running a Caddy big block. After a hundred upgrades over ten years on a similar setup, I can tell you with...

Re: gotta rebuild

With no disrespect intended to Courtney or anybody else at CadCo, IMO you would be doing yourself a disservice to use that option rather than Buddy Branch. First, Buddy is local (compared). Second, while CadCo has mucho Caddy experience, they are not experienced airboat tuners. Your picture of the b...

Re: Circle h hulls Information

You want a hull that rides free, free = porpoising. With NO intention to be argumentative, but rather, to clarify for any newbies that may read this later . . . The above statement is a blatant misstatement of the fact of the mater (although I'm sure not intentional). This reads as though it is des...

Re: Apache hull

Conventional wisdom (and the Fla law mandate) says that it should be on the outside of the transom, on the
starboard side and near the top. If you can't/don't find it there, maybe the hull was cut down and it's now MIA.

Re: LOW TORQUE LS Engine Build

Sorry Mr. Gator, but this time the nod goes to the Diggin' Fool. Yes, I do in fact dispute your graph, in spite of your misconception of it 'simplifying things'. 1) Torque is a measurement of rotational force, (Ft/Lbs). [/b] PERIOD. 2) The formula for determination of HP, is calculated by taking the...

Re: Gear Box or Not

You have a good option in left field that you had not shared prior to your last post. Unfortunately, the Laws of Physics don't play favorites or accommodate good intentions. EVER. A 454 DD will always be the better monetary option to a weak, baby small block and a gear box (and associated blade set)...

It is likely that case number is a casting number rather than a serial or part number, so may be of little use. I can't help with the type of measurement you're asking about, but I'd think if you were to measure the stroke, that would provide another clue if not provide the answer you're after. An O...

Initial reaction is to say "Make sure his life insurance is all paid up." Even nine HP w/prop is enough to kill you if it hits you in the back of the head. I know that is not helpful, but in all fairness to anybody that might respond, you need to supply more information and/or pictures. Engine mount...

Re: anyone running a 350 with 2.1 box?

500lbft/ 400hp turns way way less prop and makes way less thrust than 400lbft/500hp Ultimately, this statement is a demonstrably true fact without a doubt, (provided that the definition of "way way less prop" is admittedly a subjective observation). According to my AC pocket protected fuzzy math ex...

If you don't find something more accessible and/or obvious, I would suspect your flexplate is cracked/cracking. Exactly the symptom(s) you might expect to result from such an issue. Bearings in the drive going bad could possibly lead to similar symptoms. It is worthy to note running a bad flexplate ...

Re: Destroyed my prop

They do still make the S blades as far as I know. Did that one blade take the brunt of it? If the other two aren't damaged, I would expect you could send them to Sensenich and have them balance a set with a new blade. If your performance was not what you think it might have been, you won't get a bet...

This ideally should have been much higher in the thread, but I don't think I saw it mentioned. However unlikely it may seem, it may be beneficial to confirm beyond a doubt that your fuel tank pick up does not have some kind of obstruction. Most have some type of filter, I've seen more than one wreak...

If I remember correctly (and chances are better than fair that I don't), the OP did not pursue this, for justifiable reasons. Of course, it's possible that he did and I'm simply unaware of it, although I doubt that to be the case. This has been done here and elsewhere, but results in more of a novel...
