Re: Did they close the glades up or not

:rebel: The water elev , is 11.38, 11.6 is the closing elev, SO THEY SHOULD OPEN IT UP but I know they wont until they want to. they are quick to close and very very slow to open back up. they are just flexing their mussels to show who is the boss. just think we pay their salaries . :rebel: :violen...

:rebel: Wow I can not believe that there is no one raising cane about this closure, water is below the elev, for shutting down the areas .if they get away with it once this will be the norm closing areas down ,when ever they want. THE MAIN PERSON MUST BE A DEMOCRAT taking away everything :rebel: :s...

Re: Crusader 502xl ECU.

Check the service manual and look for relays for that engine. I had a 29" phoenix with twin 1996 Crusaders. I had the same problem, thought the fuel pump went bad, ended up being a relay in the wiring harness.

I like my 72" JM, pops up on plane, faster cruise at lower rpm than my warp, and honestly didn't lose anything on the top end.

Re: DD cruise RPM

I have a 383 with a 72" JM, mine weighed 1900 at the truck scale. I cruise 2000-2100 at 24-26mph and top out at 46mph. It seems normal to be at 2600 with a little less power.

That's awesome! I wish we had this when I was in school. They turned our auto shop class into technology, which is great, but I would have done both.

Is a 66” 4 blade warp drive to small for mild 350 on 12’ sled ?
Way too small. Most likely a 70" 5 blade if warp drive. Ask someone to borrow a prop and see how much pitch you can put in it. Does it have a prop now?

I’m looking at intercoolers. I know Russ has a big treadstone unit on his boat that does fantastic. I’m looking for recommendations. Person / company I could call and discuss my needs with...... that I could buy from. Don’t want to spend $1000 but I know I probably need to spend more than a $100. A...

I got the same prop RPM from 32-36* so I left it at 32*, figured it was safer.

Carbon builds up a low rpm, idling, putting around etc. I would almost guarantee "airboat use only" engines are very carbon free. They are run too hard.

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." We have to reduce pollution from all sources entering the water system. I think FIU or FAU had a study that I read last year saying septic tanks were a big nitrogen contributor and help fuel the algae blooms. We had the same problem in the keys, stu...

3A shut down coming soon

Just a heads-up if anyone wants to ride 3A this weekend would be the time. The water level is only a few days away from the closed action line. I watch it everyday, and it went from 11.27 Wednesday to 11.40 today, it was 10.5 a few weeks ago. The cutoff is 11.60 http://w3.saj.usace.army.mil/h2o/repo...

Keys the 2 barrel is the way to go man, I'm tellin ya! Wish they had it when I first bought mine 4 years ago. I know it is, I just really don't want to spend the money right now. I'm going to tear the boat apart soon, have Fenner straighten the bottom, and probably put a sheet of 1/4" poly on the b...

Re: Holley Sniper, Fitech, FAST, MSD efi

Running Fitech 4bbl on mine, no issue on cold starts, still tuning for throttle response. Probably because I have a DD and the 4bbl is a bit much, but I get some hesitation if I accelerate too hard.

Re: 351w carb tuning

After looking at it today, the secondaries are opening at the right time. Pretty much right at WOT they open all the way up. Does turning a 66in warp drive at 6 degrees seem right? Or should I be getting more out of a prop that size. The engine runs flawless, idles great and has great throttle resp...

Re: Thrust bearings? Aircraft vs. Automotive

First off I started this thread off in Airboat Talk since it includes both types of power. That being said I wanna know why everyone thinks automotive thrust bearings can't handle the pressure of a prop like aircraft thrust bearings? Other than the fact that aircraft have a floating thrust bearings...
