Re: Oil cooler hose

Gator, what do you use to keep the hose on the barb? Like a ss band-it or hose clamp? Not real familiar with hyd hoses. What kind of temperature rating should these hoses have?

Oil cooler hose

Blew my oil cooler hose a few weeks back....twice. It was my own dumb fault for not having the proper hose on there to begin with. What do you guys use? I don't mind spending a few bucks for reliability. Motor is a 290 with 320 sump and heads.

Re: Part number for starter

I have an Norman clay and adaptor and what looks to be an 11 tooth from Napa but I can't read the part number its too faded and its a little tricky to see around that cone piece. Can you tell what starter I need from these pics.

Re: Lycoming 320 starting procedure

Slidin, do you remember if you ordered the 5' or 8' cable with your button lock for the carb fuel mixture?

Re: Lycoming 320 starting procedure

I was going to wire up an outboard style kill switch on the ignition, anyone have one? I have a very newbie question for you guys, i took a look at my alternator this morning and noticed the positive lead is disconnected. Does this wire normally run straight to the positive terminal on the battery? ...

Re: Prop damage

I was wondering this too, what is considered "acceptable" amount of damage. I have a few much smaller nicks in my prop, its carbon fiber 5 bladed warp drive. If its just a lack of performance I can deal with that for a little while as I am still new to the hobby and learning how the boat handles, bu...

Re: Lycoming 320 starting procedure

That was definitely where the mechanical pump was. What are the downsides to putting the mechanical pump back if any? I am considering putting a facet electric pump on there and carrying a Holly Might mite as a backup. Which model of the facet pump do you run on your 320 and do you think the Holly M...

Re: Lycoming 320 starting procedure

Thanks Slidin, going to get that bracket for the filter asap, some good news I got her running this afternoon and got the starting procedure down pat. One thing I noticed though, either I don't have a mechanical fuel pump or it failed. When I shut off the electric pump down in the tank it would quit...

Re: Lycoming 320 starting procedure

Anyone have a good parts diagram of the marvel 4spa carb? The lean/rich knob seems pretty straight forward, my boat doesn't have one to speak of, i am assuming lean/rich is controlled by a little lever or actuating piece on the carb. Also do people run any kind of air filter on these engines? Mine i...

Clear coating bare aluminum, should I?

My rudders are bare aluminum and I need to do something with them, I like polished aluminum so at very least I will do that. Has anyone had experience with clear coating them? Did it last and look decent? What product did you use?
