I'm rebuilding my 180 now, went with VDO gauges and Cole Hersee(5582-10-BX) PVC coated switches, push button start is Cole Hersee(9245-BP). Run the switches on a switch panel. Most of the time, at the shop I help out at, we use this setup on aircraft boats, haven't had an issue.
That's what I was thinking John. Fingers and I are tearing my boat down soon, just wanted the opinions.
First of all if your 11 foot boat with a 180 won't run dry something is wrong, that used to be the combination everyone used to run dry. Even with full wrapped stainless it was the boat to have. That being said it will run the grass better with steel flex, especially the 2000.The down side is it ha...
I'm fixing to tear down my 11' Taylor sled, everything is getting redone. Right now I have 3 sheets of stainless on the bottom that come right to the chimes, my boat has a true 180 lycoming and will not run dry. I'm trying to make the choice to take it off and steelflex it or leave the stainless. I'...
I’m looking for a Lycoming O-360 oil sump, the one on my motor now is for a 160, I’m trying to open her up a bit ! If anybody has one or has info on where to get one I’d love to hear from you !
Where did you get the tool ? I can’t find it anywhere M-512 I think was the number for it.GMAC 76 wrote:I do not have the 1 piece that ya need but I do have the tool used to remove and install the 1 piece venture....it takes a hand press to use it.....but I bet someone on SA has what ya need
I need to replace a venturi in my carb that has a broken clip, does anybody have an old style venturi from the 2 piece model ? I have a one piece but need info on how to get the old one out, would rather just get the old one that clips in to save a lot of cussing and throwing of tools !
Love my sled ! Just gotta be a little more careful than most other boats with stopping. Not all sleds suffer from that. A deck over built for it can be very comfortable in any water depth. The really light sleds with super short transom indeed need to be careful with. I have an 8 1/2” transom 3/4 d...

I have an O-360 180 on an 11' sled , I love the damn thing ! 2 people and a cooler no problem at all, struggled a bit with 3 people and a cooler but got the job done. It's perfect for my needs until the day I decide to move up to O-540!

I went to Schmidt Airboat today and had a great experience, I bought an air cleaner to go on my Marvel Schebler MA 4-5 and I wasn’t aware that the carb was threaded where the air cleaner bolts up, does anybody have a size of screw that would be appropriate for bolting up to the carb ?
Looking to replace my motor mounts and need some guidance ! the motor is a Lycoming O-360 A1D. I don't know where to start as this is my first boat, any advice would be really appreciated!
Bought my first boat a month ago, been out to camp one time and when I got back I noticed some oil residue on the rudders. Parked it in the yard and cleaned the entire engine, 2 days later I have oil coming from a jug running down the case and falling on the half deck, I got the correct wrenches and...

Prop is fine, cage could probably use new wire. Before it was sunk it had brand new alternator, and a few other small things that were put on before the sale.
