Re: Paint remover

Unfortunately there isn't a stripper that's worth a crap anymore. The head guy at a huge commercial marine paint store told me that they took a chemical out (I can't remember the name of the chemical) that actually made the stripper work. They took it out because supposedly people were using it to m...

On behalf of every airboater and airboaters to come I want to thank you Smokster. You fought one hell of a fight and won. You accomplished what I heard so many clubs say could never be done. I sure hope they follow your lead and get our rights back in every county that has taken them away from us. T...

Funny thing, I only see people doing crazy stuff on one "side". Anyone on here looted any stores lately? "Come on, man!" Everything, absolutely everything improved under Trump. Only thing that got hurt? Your "feelings." I can live with that. Trump kept nearly ALL of his campaign promises. What a li...

I can tell you that you can't go wrong dealing with BenBad (Rick Powers). He is a great guy and puts out a great product. Here is a few pictures of mine. Now I did change the headphones out on mine because I wear them almost everyday. The black and red ones are how they come from Rick. I have the Se...

Re: Got a SS welding question...

The correct gas is a tri-mix. 90% Helium / 7.5% Argon / 2.5% Co2. What Whiskers said is correct. With that said yes you can use 75/25. I use it all the time to mig weld stainless. It's definitely not the best option but it will definitely work. Like Unforgiven said, make sure you turn your machine ...

Re: BBC - Oil Cooler Location

This is also a very good possibility. If your pickup tube has a crack up high or even a possibility that the pickup tube came out/broke off. This would make since of why it's only doing it when the boat is going down hill. This would mean the oil is running away from the pump, causing it to suck air...

Re: BBC - Oil Cooler Location

I can't fully answer your question about why it's doing what it is doing but I can tell you that running 2-3 quarts over the fill line isn't good. Most oil coolers don't hold more than a half of quart more than what the motor holds. Also even with the oil cooler you should still use the full mark on...

Re: Did they close the glades up or not

It's called they are getting us use to it being closed. Once the water plan is completely done and they hold 3'+ of water mostly year around it will pretty much be closed all the time. Just think of it as getting us seasoned to the reality.

WOW, I'm glad you both are going to make a full recovery. With an Airboat things always happy in a blink of an eye and when you least expect it. Sand is one of the most stickiest stuff when it comes to airboats. With out being there my guess is when you let off the throttle a little to much the boat...

Jhos that's great to hear! I was leaning towards water and corrosion from everything you were saying. I'm sorry because I didn't realize that you were still running the zenith carb. To be honest I didn't think to ask until John said something about it. You will be really happy once you get the new i...

Re: 220 gpu fuel issues

no only aero fuel, I don't think it has ethanol in it. I get it from the airport No Av Fuel doesn't have ethanol in it so that shouldn't be the problem then. You might have picked up some trash and it got into one of the Jets or something. Also did you check to make sure there isn't any water in th...

Re: 220 gpu fuel issues

Sounds like you have a carb problem or maybe an air leak in one of the fuel lines. Do you run regular pump full in it? If you do you most likely have build up in the carb from the ethanol. The ethanol drawls in moisture and causes major problems. The worse thing for a carb when using pump gas is it ...

Here is the answer to your question. It's a crock of crap because the water isn't high. This always seems to happen on opening weekend of Gator hunting season.

Re: Need a wiring harness for a 8.1 Levitator

Them damn Tree Rats will do it every time lol. I had a mechanic/tuner tell me not long ago that it's even worse now because the wire casings are made out of a plant based material. If it's a Pleasure Craft Marine 8.1 levitator I would reach out to them to get a new wiring harness. If not I would rec...

Re: Stossel Palm Beach Hull Riveted Rake Cap Replacement

I always recommend putting anodes on airboats but especially if it is 7075. If the boat is only used in fresh water you would use a Magnesium anode. If you use the boat in fresh and salt (brackish) water then you use an Aluminum anode. If it is used in only Salt then you would use a Zinc anode. The...

Re: New AirRanger Set up ?

I would drop it down to the 12 or 13 mark on the hub. For a ruff estimate you will gain 50-75 rpm per blade per each mark on the hub when taking pitch out. You will lose 50-75rpm per blade per each mark on the hub when adding pitch. Also your static (on the trailer) Rpm will be about 200rpm or so le...

Re: New AirRanger Set up ?

If I was you I'd be taking pitch out of the prop to get it to spin more rpm. If you have the Whisper Tip Ex prop you can safely turn it 5750 RPM's with your gear ratio per Whirlwind. Also you are leaving power on the table by only turning 4900 RPM's. I would recommend getting it to at least 5400 and...

Re: Warp drive question

Are you talking about the bolts that clamp the blades or the bolts that mount the prop to the motor? The bolts mounting the prop to the motor should be 1/2" not 5/8". The torque for the 1/2" bolts are 55-60 ft lbs.

Re: 6.2 ls engine options

I can tell you that 500-550hp is going to be under powered for what you want to do with that size boat unless it's an extremely light weight build. To make that size boat run dry ground decent you need to be looking at least 650hp but better if you go over 700+hp. With that said you definitely need ...

Re: Aluminum hull refit

Roger that. I was told to put steelflex on before poly to help to keep corrosion to a minimum. It came from a guy with a riveted hull. His reason was because his bottom is 6061 alloy and keep the corrosion at bay. Steelflex is a bottom coating, it does not flex as stated, the elastomeric roof coati...
