Re: Poly rivits.

Finally finished poly on my boat. Used screws and will replace with bolts where they fail.

Re: Poly rivits.

Thanks snookstalker for info. I have decided that will be the way I do it. Got bolts but having problems finding ss wood screws. Found #14x11/2 but can’t find #18x3/4 that I need. Any ideas or just cut long screws? Btw long screws cost $1.10 each.

Thanks for the input. Anymore fiberglass hulls out there with screws in the poly. How are they holding up. What kind of screws? TIA

Re: Poly rivits.

Smokester I get your point. My first instinct is to bolt it on. Trying to make a decision before buying supplies. You have a fiberglass Hull with poly?

Ok I know there are a lot of poly talk on here. Pop rivits or brad type rivits? Putting 3/8 poly on a fiberglass hull? Counter sinks beveled or flat ?

Guess I should clarify that I was in the boat but not piloting the boat when it went down. Let someone drive and it went south quick.

Re: navigation gps

Whoa Slidin gator!! I wasn’t “bashing” anyone. I simply read their warranty and the limitations they placed on it. When I saw what they said I then exempted myself due to the fact that my circumstances were beyond their limitations. Don’t hold it against me for being honest.

Didn’t even try after reading small print. What I was trying to convey to everyone was that you keep it realistic. I wanted the best but turns out it wasn’t the best for an airboat.

Re: navigation gps

Purchased a garmin 742xs and sunk boat in 12’ of fresh water. Recovered boat twenty four hrs later. Chart plotter was full of water and sand. Warranty said waterproof to 3 feet but doesn’t cover. Don’t spend more than your willing to loose. $850 lost. Worked great till it didn’t anymore.

Re: Baptized boat

Mr Kwan to answer your question, yes it was running when it went down. I am fortunate tho in the fact that my brother is a licensed pilot and aviation mechanic. He has been invaluable to me in maintaining my av 0540. The lycombing engine is one tough dude!! Thanks for passing on the knowledge and wi...

Re: Baptized boat

Yes sir it fired up. We pulled bottom plugs and cleared cylinders then drained crankcase. Flushed with gas then diesel. Drained carb bowl replaced drain plug and put Four quarts oil in and spun engine without spark plugs. Drained that oil and filled with new oil. Installed plugs and fired it up. One...

Re: Baptized boat

Thanks for info. Dried it out and it works fine. That's one darn good system!! Now if new garmin 742xs has same results I will be happy. It was fresh water and only about 12' deep. Guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. 😬

Swamped my boat and recovered it. Pacemaker ignition not responding. Will it dry out and work or is replacement of ignition module only solution.

Re: Why am I losing control in Shallow Water?

My rig acts like that when I run my trim tab down too far. I need it in deep water but put it up running skinny. That trim tab will sure make mine squirrelly.
