Re: Hunting with Lights

I changed my out lets to 3 prong 110 style. Harder to pull out. For gators I put a head light on the harpoon guy and as a driver I use a hand held.

Re: Thrust bearings? Aircraft vs. Automotive

Ted how many hours would you guess were on each before there was a problem? Same builder for the 2? Not sure but back then I was single so every weekend was a hunting, fishing, or air boating. My old logs show i was out 140 to 160 days a year doing one or the other. Those motor also were tuning big...

Re: Thrust bearings? Aircraft vs. Automotive

My motors 2 were fresh built by a builder the other was a motor I assembled. I assembled The week before opening archery all junk used parts out of my garage of small blocks most were old ls1 motors. I need a motor to make opening day It ran as long as the fresh built motors ran. Before these I ran ...

Gear box. Once you run an air boat you will have the TIM Tailor COMPLEX- That more power if you don't know.

Well I wiped out 3 small block cranks destroyed the thrust bearings in less than 5 years and I run an aircraft now for 9 years.

Best prop for heavy boat 540 lycoming

Turning a wispertip 74 inch to 3000 heavy on the angle motors up around 300. What props push better. I can get an 3 blade h from a friend but I read mixed reviews on that prop.

Re: The Game Changer

When I ran dd Chevy's the fuel economy was way better than my aircraft. Just none of them could hold up to the play created in the cranks by the prop. IF the longevity is there and the fuel mileage then I see them doing good.

Re: The Game Changer

The fuel economy and longevity. If he has the bearing worked out then it should have better life. My VO540 sucks fuel. I read allot of articles about prop performance. They were always below the speed of sound, So tip speed is critical.

Re: LS DD maiden voyage

I will say fuel economy on my old 350 dd was great in comparison to a 520 540 and a cad dd boats I ran with. I know I ran a 30 gallon tank from 50 to the oak head and back when the water was low. With two on board a 13 foot cotton mouth back in the days of wood props. Yep every dd sb I had developed...

Re: How much weight can you carry

Well yes and no there was a sticker with max number of people on my hull when I picked it up but not a weight. I load my boat down for camping but I am not burning up the ground. What's worse than weight is sloshing water in a boat. I can run with 4 people the boat prefers 2. My boat was built for h...

Re: Don't know jack bout em

Seating is below the cage so if seat Hight is a problem the prop is a bigger problem. I say a 6 cyl aircraft on a 13 foot with a deep hull not a real shallow hull. Other wise a duck boat may be what your looking for.

Re: everones thoughts on cotton mouth hulls??

Great beginners boat ran one for years. My cotton mouth did not turn great but also was hard to flip. Now as for water level depends on every thing side wall height, motor weight. My hull was shallow only sat out of the water a few inches at rest. Now my hull had a small tunnel in the back about 3 f...

Re: Broken bolt stuck in prop hub

Also aluminum expands twice the rate of steel. Do the drill heat and penetrating oil then after it all cooled heat the outside of prop adp and see it comes off.
