Re: 2.68-1 Rear Seal

I laid the box on its back to store it while i installed a different engine. But when i tore down the blown motor, the motor wouldn't turn over ( locked up), so i had to turn the gearbox around 360 degrees to remove the 6 bolts holding engine flex to Rotator flex. I have put gear box in the machine ...

2.68-1 Rear Seal

Hey guys! What degree of difficulty is it to change the rear seal on a Rotator 2.68-1 gearbox? I guess I would get the seal from Sam@ Panther, right? For some reason since I pulled it to install a new motor, it's been leaking on the garage floor  thnx Don

Re: Block Identitcation

Hi James. This is a 0-6000 Comp cam. It's fairly radical. But with the 2.68-1 and the 3bld-R it seams to be matched good.

Re: Block Identitcation

I basically just bought the block, heads with vlave covers-no intake or and other bolt on acc's. I have all the goodies Rv cam, edlebrock rpm performer intake, etc. And it is a one piece rear seal.

I just noticed my flywheel doesn't fit it. Thats a problem because my 2.68 needs to match my flywheel.

Re: Block Identitcation

Not sure but I would say no. The plate covering where a mechanical pump was on it and not disturbed. Where as my 86' had a small 1/2 plate where the mechanical pump arm went through.

Re: Block Identitcation

Cntry: the only thing stamped on the passenger sid head is BG (3x's). It must be old because the valve covers have 3 bolt through the covers holding them down. Can't say as I've ever seen that and I'm 60.

Block Identitcation

Hey guys: after I got my 350 torn down, found that the block and one head were torched between cylinders 5 & 7 to bad to salvage. Went and bought another used motor which has been sitting in a shop for some time. I was wandering from the block numbers if anyone can tell me more about what I bought? ...

Re: trying to pull gearbox off locked up motor

No water or milky substance on the dip stick. It was running fine; then the Pcv blew out and the dip stick blew out.?? I coasted it into the boat ramp running ruff as hell, but still running. When I killed the engine. Stuck! Froze

Re: Steering wheel on Airboat

Thanks fellas for the tips and advice. I just left the marine store and the only disadvantage he could think of is that a wheel won't turn as fast as a stick. Goldhunter, I understand what your saying but the terrain is such that there are no trees for about 7 miles from the area I airboat. Just sal...

Re: 2x4 versus 4x4 cage wire

O.K.-Tony; that makes sense. I got mine from Marshland Marine and they sell it in rolls. 4' wide x length you need. It was the last part of my build and after the Rotator and then the price of the 3bld "R", only $400--lets get it over with. Like i understand now, one of you Fl guys say; "any time I ...

Re: 2x4 versus 4x4 cage wire

This is the ticket on the wire. It didn't upload but I was wrong. $416.50--30'@$13.00 a foot+tax. Ya'll propably got much better prices there than the Houston/Baytown area.

Re: 2x4 versus 4x4 cage wire

I'm with some of the others on this. The amount of time reguired to cut off, grind clean and reweld new cage wire on, wouldn't be worth the RPM's you'd gain. Plus adding in $500.00 for new SS wire. Don

Mascara: you might want to re-think your course of action for the bottom. An aluminum hull with 3/8" poly weighs much less than a stainless steel lining on the bottom. Weight is a critical factor in AB's. This new poly is going on it's third season and theres hardly a scratch on it from the oyster r...

BrotherBob: I surely agree with standing up and speaking the feelings you have and not going with the others.
