Re: gps for airboat
I've had several GPS units and have learned they become a crutch. To learn an area you have to make a few mistakes and not constantly refer to a GPS. I use the free app Skipper on my I-phone which shows a satellite image and all the paths an airboat can take even though I only have a kicker boat rig...

Re: The Bluff was burned down
It's why communisiom doesn't work. When you rent a DVD from the library it's all scratched up with food on it and people are such a$$holes on our roads. Just like the two baby cypresses mowed over at Nathens Mound. People just distroy stuff they don't own. But as soon as that a$$hole bones his mom, ...

Pyromaniac should be easy to find, just look for a bedwetter suppressing his desire to sleep with his mother.

Re: whats the safest way to welf aluminum fuel tank?
The way I would do it is to wash it out with soap the best I can. Then take a 20' pvc pipe with a lit rag soaked in lighter fluid, and put that fire in the hole. Let that fire find what ever fuel vapor is remaining and then you're good to go. You could also use a long rope and tree branch to lower f...

If you have an I-phone, download "Skipper." It's free and I find it more intuitive that any Garmin product I've owned. It has various base maps, but I use the satellite view because it shows so much detail. True it's not waterproof, but neither was the last Garmin 76CSMap I had that got fl...

Yes, all those wood panels you see are going to be used as a temporary bridge used for replacing power poles.

Save your money and download the free "Skipper" app for your smart phone. It's free or $11 a year. I use the free one and have a satellite picture for a base map. Very easy to use and a thousand times better than any of the Garmins I have. Note, I have an iPhone so I can't vouch for androi...

Re: SBC 350 with overheating issues
Hardtail, to test your head gasket you simply pressurize your cooling system and see if it loses pressure over a certain amount of time. If you're cooling system will not hold pressure, it's probably your head gasket is leaking. If it does hold pressure then I would rule out your head gasket. To pre...

Re: SBC 350 with overheating issues
I would remove the 4 three eights inch bolts holding the lower bearing to the belt housing. See if it Springs out. If it does that would indicate that is pushing on the engine crank bearing. Century Bell Drive has detailed instructions on their website to do this. I had a similar problem and did eve...

Re: SBC 350 with overheating issues
Have you had your belt drive off and on recently. I ask because if don't let the lower belt drive pully float on it's shaft you'll put a lot of pressure on the rear main crank bearing on you engine. This will cause overheating that's hard to figure out and also eventually wipe out the crank bearing ...

Re: Does this sound fishy?
All turned out good. Sold the boat for cash to a local in Melbourne. Lives right on a canal going to Lake Washington. Boat has a great home! I'm not done with airboating, just going to reset for awhile. Next time the river goes down, I'll be rooting through the classifieds again for sure.

Does this sound fishy?
I have my airboat up for sale and got a call from Fort Lauderdale from a woman with an accent. It was obvious she isn't an airboater so I asked her why she wanted to buy my boat. She says she's a yacht broker and would be shipping it overseas if she buys it. She wanted to know my rock bottom price a...

Re: 21 injured in SW Dade airboat crash
Oops, sounds like the drivers were having more fun than the passengers. Oh and the alligator infested waters they almost went into. What, one our two alligator attacks a year in Florida while 40,000 Americans killed by cars each year. I'll take my chances in the marsh any day with those odds.

Re: Airboat vs. bay boat
When running an outboard in shallow water it's important to have your engine kick up easily when you start running aground. If you have hydraulic tilt / trim you can get a "kick up" plate that will allow that to happen. Cook Manufacturing, CMC, makes on.

Looser without a doubt. When the belt wines it's too tight. Hard on the bearings.

Do you recognize the boat in this video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVB90ZR ... e=youtu.be
Came across it the other day and thought I'd post it for you.

Re: Need restaurant recommendations
No local flavor like Lone Cabbage. If you're in a car go to Normans. I promise you, you won't go wrong. Same owner, service, etc. but Normans is delux. Try the boneless chicken wings. Watch where you park though. There's some parasites around there making money from folks that are careless parking. ...

I would say yes to Lone Cabbage on a Sunday afternoon. Sure the service isn't great but the foods hot and reasonable. Plus you can't beat the atmosphere with a band, bikes, and babes walking around. Plus it's historical.

Yeti Cooler Part Found at Halfway Lake
http://www.southernairboat.com/photopost/uploads/381/IMG_7917_1_1.JPG With my daughter looking for feathers last Sunday and came across this Yeti cooler part. Figure it was lost by an airboater. I've seen these coolers at Ace and know how much they cost so I'd like to get this back to the owner. PM...
