Re: WTF!

I was in a deer stand about 2 1/2 miles away and heard 2 airboats running the flats around Horseshoe Beach on Saturday! Sounded like A/C boats?? You can try to get away from the city Bull$$it...and still run into the Yahoo's!!

Re: To The Guy With The Direct Drive LS In 3A

As a young person it is taught and expected well from some parents, as we get older is a choice. I am the mechanic for all the kids on my street, I will help any of the kids, but they know I will accept nothing less then being respectful to me or anyone on my small piece of property. When they get ...

Re: Crankcase vent ????

I have an 0-290 d...and my mine is set up to breath out of the accessory case. The port on the front of the engine (airplane configuration) near the prop is prone to sling oil off of the camshaft. Its probably worse with the engine being backwards on an airboat...JMO , plug the vent near the flywhee...

Re: dusty brewsters celibration of life to be held at his ho

I met Brewster at a fund raiser for him at Loughmans but didn't have the privilege of knowing him as a friend. I'm sure he was a cool guy to be around...after seeing all of his CRAZY upper case posts on SA who wouldn't like him?? Being an Adobe Photoshopper myself, i can relate to his T-Shirt talent...

Thanks for sharing a great video! My dad and uncle participated in some of those animal rescues. In my eyes a good majority of those Gladesmen from that era are true heroes.

See them on Barnstormers once in a while! Arrowprop sells a simple VW redrive for $1200 If you have access to a machine shop...there is a lot of info on building one yourself??http://www.arrowprop.com/rdrive.htm

FWI... that is a $70.00 ticket in Florida! Fl. requires the boat be secured to the trailer front and rear.

Maybe someone will chime in with Bruce's number...he does great machine work! He made an adapter for a oddball Franklin helicopter engine for me and did a great job. It might help if you add your location in the profile settings.

If you put it on with a roller it more than likely has dimples ...is the finish kind of rough?? I did mine a while back and had same kind of issue, but after several dry runs it smoothed out!

Re: how to identify a 4 cyl

Here is a pic of an H-model! Notice the removable ears for the engine mounts for conical or dynafocal mounts. I doubt its 180 hp?? The h stands for Helicopter installation in the horizontal position, a stands for aerobatic dry sump, d for dual mag ( h series having a Siamese mag). The H series had c...

Re: First Airboat = Hull

X2 Glades!! defiantly don't start narrow ...especially 5 ft. Figure 70'' max on a 290 and that's with a flat prop. I'm running a 66x32 on a 7'6"x11 lite hull/sled and it's amazing how well the 290 works with this combo. You did mention a future upgrade 320 or 360 so I personally would keep it wide!

Re: Francis Taylor hull request

While on the topic of Taylor hulls...I also have a hull that is in question of the builder?? Taylor, Collinger or just a copy of either? The rear looks similar to the Taylor? I believe the title says home-built, but you know that goes with Airboats. Any expertise will be appreciated !!

Re: painting aluminum hull

If you have a completely clean aluminum product with no traces of old paint...then alodine is the best process as far as a bonding procedure. its a little hard to find , but it is worth it . I have used Dupont vari-prime with good results and as mentioned make sure you use a primer compatible with t...

Re: 4cyl continental or v6 buick?

You need to take the boaters safety coarse! I took this with my son when he was 15 and it enables you to operate any boat 10 hp and over. Get your Dad to take the coarse with you? Our local Boy Scout troop sponsored this and the turn out was good. The State of Florida has historically held claim to ...
