Re: Info About A IO-540 Value ?

Ok I got it in the classifieds. Just alittle more info. That engine only has 460 hrs. and I was right this guy is in aviation. Matter of fact he has 2 more, but one is waaaaasy up there $$$$ for doing acrobatic stuff, another one he has he said could go either way, aircraft or airboat and it has zer...

Re: Info About A IO-540 Value ?

I just got off the phone with him. He said it was in a crash landing. The crank dialed out fine. The sump will have to be replaced . He bought it 14 years ago to rebuild for an airplane. It has been stored inside his air conditioned shop the entire time. It has both mags and a prop governor on it. I...

Re: Info About A IO-540 Value ?

Well if I were buying a motor worth as much as this , I would either know how to check the major things on it or have someone with me that knew about them. I am sure if the money was on the table the seller shouldn't have a problem with the buyer cracking open the case or pulling jugs or whatever yo...

Re: Info About A IO-540 Value ?

Welllll, one thing was I did not know if it was worth anywhere near what he wanted. And I didn't want to waste my time or anybody elses. Now that I have a feel for what it might be worth I will probably place an ad. I had someone wanting me to sell a bike (Harley) and they wanted $12k for it and I w...

Re: Info About A IO-540 Value ?

Not sure. I don't know enough about that stuff to answer any questions. I had a person contact me by email cooters@tampabay.rr.com that they were interested in it at the $6k so I took their phone number and forwarded it to the owner. I will give it a couple days and see what happens. I will try to k...

Re: Info About A IO-540 Value ?

He didn't say that the engine took any kind of hit. He said realistically the engine could still be made air worthy . I think he is looking for quite a bit out of it. I thought I would ask around to get an idea if it would be worth my time to help move it. Some where around $6k is what I think he is...

Info About A IO-540 Value ?

Been a while since I been on here. No doing that much lately with airboats. Just got off the phone with a fellow that ask me to try to find buyer for an io-540 engine from an aircraft bad landing. Never been in airboat and could probably be made air worthy again. He said its a 300 hp. fuel injected ...

Need A Offshore Guide Near Marathon Fl.

I've been invited down to Marathon for a week around the 10th of May. Was thinking it would be nice to find a fishing guide to take me and another fellow fishing and swap it out with me for some gator hunting gear. If anybody has any ideas of who might be interested please shoot me an email. Thanks,...

Re: Should He, Or Not , Change To Automotive Power?

Yea , he is not to thrilled with the way it handles his boat. Its alittle sluggish to get up on plane. Do you think a different prop would make much difference? Or should he just start to try saving some $$$ to try and put something else on the hull? Maybe he can find someone with a really light hul...

Should He, Or Not , Change To Automotive Power?

I have a friend that has gotten his first airboat. It has I think a P90 Cont. on it. The hull is 6x12 with 22" transom and sides. He wants to know if he can re-power with a 350 , will his hull handle it? And can he run it direct drive? he doesn't have alot of $$$ so its gonna be a chore to do a swap...

Thanx for all the input. Yea I got about 15-18 egg sacks with the spikes on them last night. Black and Brown Widow Problem

My shop is infested with these guys. What can I do to be rid of them? I killed 4 and then went to looking alittle bit and found about 6 more without moving anything. I didn't kill the rest of them yet. I was wondering if there are folks that collect them for any reason? I'd love for someone else to ...

Make sure about the ventilation thing, I've had that poisoning 3 times and it ain't no picnic. If you get any sharp pains in your chest or rib area get ya @zz to the Dr. and get some meds. It does permanant damage. Do the milk thing before and after you weld on it. I usally do a half glass before an...
