thanks guys, i appreciate the help. I'm gonna go with the 383, but do i use the 400 connecting rods or go with 5.7 and new pistons, remember I'm on a serious budget.

i have a good 350 block but it has a bad crank and a bad rod, I'm thinking that if i spend the money to fix the 400 i could probably build a 383 with that money and be better off.

the crack is on the surface where the head gasket would lay and its no deeper than a piece if hair. i don't think that would work

Thank You All for the replies. I've been away from airboating for a while and and im just getting back into it. Agian, I was not trying to be rude(not that any of you took it that way) but I honestly didn't know. Sounds like alot of improvements have been made on the way they're built. I guess thats...

Why does it cost so much? I thought a fiberglass boat was suposed to be cheaper to build than aluminum. Im not trying to be rude, I was just wondering why I should choose fiberglass over aluminum with such a close price.

That is what gave me the idea. I saw some video of a small one man airboat running dry with a 65hp motor. However the motor looked a lot less than 135lbs. I belive it was built by mosquito air boats. Im really starting to think seriously about building something like it. thank you by the way. That do...
