Re: Unadvertised Sensenich props

That's great news to hear! I was thinking about you the other day when I was reading some older stuff on here, wondering if you were still around on here. I guess this answers that question and then some. I was so impressed with the durability of my old Sensenich Kevlar wrapped wood prop and how muc...

On my old gilileo 1600-1800 rpm. That's direct drive though, probably not data your looking for though.

Re: Jon boat to airboat

Everyone above has told you the truth. You can put a motor and an air propeller on the back of a jon boat, and yes it will push it, but the same motor will push it better and take you more places as a mud motor setup. Water is so much denser than air, and that fact alone means the air drive is much ...

Re: Kubota Diesel Mini Airboat - Will it work? - What Prop?

Ok, I think your on the right track now. If it'll turn 4500 in then I'd go that route and a little belt drive refuction. Like you said, run it up high to break free or get on plane then back it down to 3000 or so is what I was thinking. I used to have a Kubota b2400 tractor and you had to run it at ...

Re: Kubota Diesel Mini Airboat - Will it work? - What Prop?

"The 3 blade Alpha is the only prop we tested that work in the higher rpm band, the Saber stopped converting about 3100,,,,,"

That's the quote that I was referring to. And I was incorrect about whome said it. It was a quote by Davie GSO480.

Re: Kubota Diesel Mini Airboat - Will it work? - What Prop?

Close but no. That one says almost the same thing, but the one I'm referring to is a statement by WaterThunder and he says that the alpha was the only one that was still increasing in thrust at 3600 and the others quit increasing at like 3200 or something. He has an engine stand that is mounted on a...

Re: Kubota Diesel Mini Airboat - Will it work? - What Prop?

You ask what prop can be spun that fast, slidin gator did the math there for you, it's going to come down to length, plus the manufacturer s design and the props construction. Most manufacturers are gonna tell you you can't spin their prop that fast, but there are some that can do it. If you decide ...

Re: Kubota Diesel Mini Airboat - Will it work? - What Prop?

I like this project and I hope it works out. I'd make a reduction drive for it and try a water walker Cypress prop. If you don't go reduction, get an alpha or razor x, about 66" or 64" if they go that short and spin it to 3500-3600. Your basically gonna have to do like waterthunder did on ...

About 40 in deepwater, maybe a little more under ideal conditions. Never had a big enough strip of skinny water, but it would surely be a lot faster in 4" of water rather than 15 feet of water in the river. My mini with a 13hp Honda would do 25 or so in skinny water. 12.5' Gilileo with a 350 di...

My old boss had same issues with his center console boat, wearing keel bad from beaching etc. I turned him on to the steel flex or whatever it's name brand is that Fasco epoxies (sp?) sells/sold. He got it in white, didn't match his gel coat too well, but it solved his problem and he never had anoth...

I'm having troubles with 4a084 also. More specifically the trouble is finding one. I can find them like you for 800+ but couple that with shipping and the cost becomes too much. I did find one an hour away yesterday, but the guy wanted 1500 and it looked like roadkill. I thanked him kindly for his t...

Here's my old 350 boat. It was a blast. My first real airboat other than a mini I made in like 04 or 05. A pig by most standards, but up here in the panhandle it was a blast and I loved it. Regret selling that thing.

Re: re-drive for an 032?

I'm in the same boat, kinda anyway. I want an 4a084 to build a little personal airboat around. As far as ratio goes, figure what max rpm the motor can be safely run at then figure how much hp your gonna have to play with. Call prop MFR's and discuss with them your project and determine what rpm the ...

Re: 350 DD boat

I had a DD 350 on a Gilileo hull also back in the day. You need all the torque you can get in a DD configuration. I loved about my boat is the simplicity of it. It was just a motor sitting there with a prop bolted to the crank. Simple, easy to work on. Inexpensive to maintain. It was fun and would r...

Re: 408 Ford stroker build underway! Direct drive

Love this build. I can't wait to see video of your boat running. I enjoy seeing some variety out there. Just remember though, more torque, more prop, more thrust pushing on that crank. I hope it holds together under the enormous amount of pressure that it's about to be subjected to once you pitch it...

Like the guy above said. It's been done, rotax already has made or still makes engines to do what your trying to do. The only reason to want a rotax boat and NOT use a 583 or the like with a gearbox made for it would be because one could get the engine for cheap and had access to a machine shop to b...

Let's resurrect this old but good thread. My first airboat was a 12' apache with a pe90 that I got from my friend's dad when I was 14. He wanted like 1500 for the motor which I couldn't afford so I bought the hull, trailer and old brazed together rusted rigging. I wish I still had that hull right no...

Re: Aluminum vs fiberglass hull

When they make a mold for a fiberglass boat the designer can easily manipulate the shape of the bottom and chines. That's the main reason you hear a glass boat turns and handles better. Ive had a glass boat but my next one will be aluminum deckover if I had my wish. Up where you're at I'd put poly o...

https://youtu.be/3CpcButG0qU My 3rd airboat was a Gilileo with a DD 350. I had more fun on that boat than any other water toy I've ever had. Get you a stroker kit and build up a 383 and throw aluminum heads on it, get a used composite prop and you'll be set. It'll run dry way better after that. On ...

Re: 350 low oil pressure when warm at idle

It's DD then it's more than likely high clearance on the mains. Especially that last one that takes all the gyroscopic forces. On my old DD 350 I used to have that was always the case. Decent pressure when engine cold then drops down to low to nothing after warmed up at idle, yep time for bearings.

Looks awesome. I've been looking at those motors as well for a mini I'm gonna build. There's a company that makes some nice looking psru for them. I can't remember the name but easy way to find them is on eBay. They are anodized blue.
