Re: What makes a purpose built Airboat motor?

spencer321, I've know hundreds of people that drive thousands of hours a year, and none have blown their engines in a road vehicle. And I know about 10 with airboats and all have blown an engine in the last 10 years. Some running 100 hours a year, some running a thousand hours a year. Some with one ...

Re: Slick bottom

Sounds like the perfect reason to look into a sprayer system. 25 cents of dawn and a couple gallons of water? I'm still working on a system for mine. I think I'm going to try it with another fuel pump so I'll have a backup in the boat. :|

Re: 556hp LSA vs. 600hp 418 Water Thunder

mcm4, I was running a 600 HP 496 on a 14' DB. I mainly travel deep water, though my destinations are usually shallow and stumpy, and all I ever got was 1.25 MPG......Ever! That's taking it easy and just staying on a good plane depending on load. Didn't seem to matter if I had two people or five, and...

Re: airboat regs - louisiana

If you're gonna run from Covington to Maurepas you better get an inflatable ring to go around the hull! I go out on Ponchartrain quite often, ONLY when the weathers good and from a landing and back. It'd be a long and miserable trip going that far in moderate weather..... :(

And in reality, if i was gonna get shot, I'd hope it was with M855 stuff. Much less damage than with most bullets........ go figure.

Re: A little boat help please

Crow, ever thought about a jet drive outboard? And steelflex shouldn't be too hard to touch up every year if you think you could roll the boat back off the trailer onto 55 gallon drums. We do smaller boats that way but don't have a clue what a flatscat is.

Re: Need advice...

I've got a 14' Diamondback with 418 Waterthunder that I think would be good for what you're looking for. Price? You'll have to shop around. Ain't nothing cheap. :) And deep water fuel consumption varies, but way better than the 496 I had on it. Hope this helps.

LED Bowfishing amp draw

Im getting ready to install LED barlights on the front of my boat. Im going to get a 36" and install it permanently in the grass rake and two 12" to replace the originals lower in the grass rake. Then I want to install 3 12" and one 4" one each side of the front of the boat that ...

Re: Where to buy Stinger rubber bushings?

well, looking at them today, I could stick a little twig all the way through one of the "good" green ones. Two are still there, and one has "melted" away......... Anyway, got the new ones ordered. I'll measure them and start experimenting with making some out of rubber for when t...

Re: Where to buy Stinger rubber bushings?

Still waiting for them to get some in. And I'm thinking about getting some solid rubber and making my own. Anyone see any reason that they couldn't be made out of solid rubber? They'd be easy to grind down to size............ :)

Where to buy Stinger rubber bushings?

I noticed yesterday that one the bushings going to the flywheel from the gearbox was missing on my 2:38 Stinger. It looked like melted lime green rubber/plastic. the next one looked red but was in good shape. I think I will replace them all, just wondering where to order them from. Thanks, JD

Re: Any good riding around Baton rouge?

There is really not allot of places to ride anymore. Used to be the Maurepas swamp, but since LDWF made it a WMA it's off limits to airboats. If you take a ride south toward the marsh, there can be places to ride, but many areas are off limits too. Kinda have to know landowners in different areas to...
