Re: Thoughts on 4 cylinder boats
I love little 4 cyl boats. I also had a 160 h2ad like Ricks but it was on a 12’ triple W Hull. I frogged ,gator hunted, and rode just about everywhere I wanted and hardly burnt any fuel. But... the one thing I never could do was go fast. So if your looking for a fast 4cyl combo I would recommend a 1...

Re: 540 short jug info.
There’s no spacers on mine either. Mine has a 540 crank, cut down 540 cylinders, and a pretty rank cam.
Don’t know what rods he used. But it never gets too hot. Here’s a pic of the cyl length and current oil cooler set up

Re: 540 short jug info.
Im currently running a short jug 540. They are interesting motors. They are a high reving motor. From 2700-3400 They are a rank. Depending what cam you have and if it has 480 vs cut down 540 cylinders. They like the higher rpms vs the lower.

Re: Kamikaze airboat
I know this thread is old but with the recent activity I figured I’d update it. We ended up finding the kamikaze thanks to Bruce and tony480 ‘s info. Larry Williams and I went and got it and redid it a few years back. It’s been in a few shows and is now owned by someone else. Here is a pic after is ...

Re: can anyone tell me what motor this is
That is a 290 ground power case. Where the flange is cut around the crank gives it away. It was a solid lifter motor, hence the oil lines added. That sump is a common one people would add to those cases in order to put an up draft carb on it. Original had a downdraft carb on it. The tag on it has no...

Re: advantages of a 14ft step over 12ft?
The only 14' ive seen in person has a supercharged geared AC on it. It has full stainless metal work. side by side seating with seating up front also. And it still would walk away from the two 12' steps we were running with him. One had a 470 and the other a 540 both carb. The two 12' are true 70-80...

Re: Fiberglass deck-over,sled,palm beach style
Because a step hull rides on two points instead of one big spot it puts a lot of wear on those two points when you run the hill a lot. Doesn't mean you can't tho. Especially if your good with glass.

Re: Fiberglass deck-over,sled,palm beach style
If you get the chance to ride on a step I would encourage you to do so. They are fast free and slide. And easy to deck over. They were built to run down south but they drive different in that you drive with your foot a lot more then other types.

Re: Fiberglass deck-over,sled,palm beach style
If your wanting a light, free riding, sliding, deck over that is fiberglass, it's gonna be real hard to improve upon a decked over fiberglass step. A round bottom hull isn't gonna ride Anywhere close to a flat bottomed or a step hull. What your describing is basically why a step was Ever built in th...
