Re: Airboat or Surface drive?
if you need to run dry or areas too shallow for a prop, less then 6-8 inches depth, get a airboat, and they are more fun. if you can limit to where there is minimum 6-8 inches of water, a surface drive will be a lot less expensive, better boat to actually hunt out of, and quieter, thus a better hunt...

Best Wish's
My wife and I both wish the very best for our Southern Airboat friends over the next few days. What you will experience will be unimageionable for the rest of us who are in on site, in Florida. We experienced the best of Florida on our trip through the state, riding with some of you, attending the F...

I also hunt, etc and keep a gun near the door just in case So by your hero Obama's point of view YOU are either 1) hunting the wrong thing and should not be able to buy guns Or 2) qualify in your advanced years as "mentally defective" and should not be able to buy guns Just a warning not to be surp...

Why would you think that, I also hunt, etc and keep a gun near the door just in case. Just a warning not to be surprised if Trump has a more moderate viewpoint and actions concerning our firearms.goldhunter_2 wrote:so Bud being such a good Dem and with your advanced years have you turned in your guns yet?

I think Trump will surprise a few of you Trump lovers, Trump has said that he is in favor of restrictions to keep guns out of the hands of those who should not have him, closing gun show loopholes, etc. Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Re: Old airboat, new driver, and problems
one motor I would suggest, a couple grand more expensive, is a MAS 383, its built for a airboat, will last for years of reliable airboat running, comes with a 2 yr warranty, and is in the 6k range complete, ready for your boat. you can go with bbc or sbc either way, headers won't swap out, but motor...

with small companies, they often use your money to pay their own past due bills for other builds and other expenses that they have incurred. Anybody doing this with a company that needs cash flow during the build needs to set up a payment schedule with them ahead of time, paying a percentage as the ...

Re: No more wood
An 'old school' trick for wooden runners on a trailer deck is to get out your propane burner, drop three or four block of paraffin in a pot (you can find it at a lot of craft shops) and melt it down. Then, get a pretty good quality 4" disposable brush and somebody to help you. What you're gonna do ...

Re: Ideal boat for ice fishing
you really don't want a open boat for running on ice, etc. mine has a 2 speed red dot heater and when closed up can run me out of the boat in the coldest days. 30*f feels like way below 0 when being sucked past you by the big open props.....it is really cold

Re: Which big block - 454 or 496?
Weight is basicly the same, 496 stroker uses the same block, just bored out a bit more and stroked. If you go to search, Crowhater posted several years ago a parts list and build instructions for a very simple 496 with all new parts, etc that was a tried and proven set up for airboat, might do a sea...

I've got the garman 650T mounted on my dash, and very happy with it, however with my boat down from last august to last week, havn't had much use out of it. need to figure out how to work it and get the most from it. I know I can swap it easily from boat to atv to truck once I get more mounts for it...

Bud, some of us have become accustomed to your not reading entire threads and just showing up at the end with something that may or may not be relevant. Usually nobody comments when this happens. However, this time I can't help but point out that he was already up there three weeks ago now. M...
