Holley Sniper, Fitech, FAST, MSD efi

Anyone running any of these bolt on throttle body fuel injection systems? Ive searched and found a few threads but they arent very recent without much info. I plan on putting it on my GM crate engine the HT383. Just wanting the benefits of the throttle response and cold starts since I run my boat in...

Ls to BBC

I keep seeing posts on swapping bbc to ls engines but what would be needed to mount a bbc to a boat that was previously setup with an ls engine? Will the gear drive bolt up and does the engine stand need modifications or just different motor mounts?

New boat setup

Im looking at purchasing a used boat without an engine but will include the gear drive and prop, im pretty set on putting a Big Block on it in the 550hp range. It's a heavy 16x8 boat. The reduction is a stinger 2.38 and an 80in. 4 blade prop. Which I think it is a sensenich R. Will a Big Block in th...

New Prop Suggestions

Im currently running a 72x52 wood prop and I think the long hunting seasons have been taking there toll on the prop, Would like to switch over to a composite and get just as good if not better performance. Right now Im running a SBC 355 with around 350hp, 2.1 belt drive swingin the 72x52 at around 5...

Boat Handling

I am running a 1985 14ft. Airgator hull with a 355, 2:1 belt drive and I am having some issues running the boat. I just replaced the polymer on the bottom and the sides and when putting the boat back together I have to start over with my jack plates. When replacing the polymer you can tell the botto...

Hull Width- Running Dry

Just wondering how hull width has an effect or if any on running dry. A buddy and I were discussing this the other day. My boat I currently run is a 15x7 airgator, which is only a 5' bottom. With the same powerplant but a boat that is just 1 foot wider, say a 15x8, even with the added weight which w...

Re: Polymer Help

Does anyone use 5/16" rivets? That would be a good solution being as I can still drill the holes to 5/16". Whats the opinion on rivets on aluminum boats?

Polymer Help

Well I didn't make it far on installing the new polymer. I stripped off the old sheet of polymer and almost all of the holes in the bottom of the hull have the threads stripped out of them. And by stripped I mean the 1/4 machine screws fit through the holes and the holes are too big to retap. What a...

Re: Airboat Lighting

I already have a 100 watt hard hat light wired directly to the battery and I thought it was about the brightest spotlight I could find but it just wasn't getting the job done, I guess if mounting them on the cage isn't helpful than I will try to find a place in front of me somewhere to mount them. I...

Airboat Lighting

So im going to mount a couple KC type lights to the cage of the boat to give me some more lighting at night. I already Have a good Halogen headlamp that I use but I would like like a little more lighting whenever we have to go through those submerged stump fields. Ive narrowed it down to a couple 6"...

Changing Oil

Ok so the boat has been running great, This is the first Airboat I have ever owned. It has a SBC 355 with 358 HP, right now the boat has 26 hrs on the motor. The previous owner said he ran 20w-50 in it, which is what is currently in the motor right now. I am getting some oil that comes out of the va...

Re: Opinion on boat

Also this would be my first airboat, is a 15x7 with a 5' bottom too narrow for a first timer? It will be in deep water when im running the channel of the river.

Opinion on boat

Looking at a 15x7 Airgator hull, 5' on the bottom, 355/358hp engine, 2:1 Century Belt Drive, 74x54 Wood Paddle prop, going to be used for duck hunting running the river in Illinois, Lots of logs and flooded timber, some flooded corn fields and mud. How good would this boat run dry with 3 people and ...

Re: First Airboat Buy

Ok one more fellas. http://spacecoast.craigslist.org/boa/1262280358.html I really appreciate the help guys. I would have to dig out another $1000 to get this boat but if it would have much more power than the first I posted I guess it would be worth it. Im just really worried about mud and getting s...

Re: First Airboat Buy

Ok if one of you veteran airboaters doesn't mind looking at this link for me and giving me an opinion on this boat. I guess being only 12' limits me to carrying much gear, but what about the motor/ Prop setup? Run good in Mud and Dry? I guess Texas is a little closer than Florida coming form Illinoi...

Re: First Airboat Buy

Thanks for all the suggestions. Guess I'll just save up a few more benjamins and shoot for something that will get the job done. As for this duck season I guess its still the 16ft. Jon with the 20hp Tiller handle outboard. But Id still rather invest in an airboat than a $15,000 War Eagle or Sea Ark ...

First Airboat Buy

Ok so im looking in buying an airboat for duck hunting. Im from Southern Illinois and don't have much knowledge on them except for reading for hours about them on this site. I have rode on one a couple different times with a hunting buddy which money is not an object for him and his boat cost close ...
