Re: Airboat Hull jet boat?
The are often referred to as jet-jons. Clint Rowe from On the Snap Fiberglass has made a few around here. Basically he cuts the bottom out of a jet ski, motor, motor mount and all and glasses it in to the bottom of an airboat hull. Then makes a little rigging for seats and controls. Not rocket surge...

Re: EMT ladder stand chair??
Just make diagonal struts from rear legs back down to ladder frame uprights, couple good size washers welded to seat to strap to tree with a ratchet strap, plus a safety harness for you, in case you doze off, I know of a couple people that are partially paralyzed due to dozing off, falling and frac...

EMT ladder stand chair??
I am getting ready to build another EMT ladder stand. I have a steel garden chair. Any thoughts on pros/cons of just making a ladder and just welding the chair to the top with some additional supports for the rear legs?
Any better ideas for the seat? Pics appreciated.

If you swap them out, you will say it has better low end push but you lost a little snap. If somebody swapped it out and didn’t tell you, you probably wouldn’t notice anything different.

Hydraulic hoses.
Got 11 years out of my first set. Only replaced them because they “looked old”.
Also important is how you run them. Tie them off so they don’t/can’t rub or touch anywhere. Rubber vibrating against metal will eventually fail.

Polaris GPS (android device, free, no network required) Google Maps (no network or cell required if you download the maps for the area you run) I’m glad you found a good GPS app for Droid. Motion X for I-phone. And it’s the same , as long as you open the map while you have service, it continues to ...

Loughmans Lake Lodge.
I don’t know anything about lodging or camping there, we just pull up for a drink and something to eat. There is a new owner and there are rumors of changes coming. If it isn’t what you are looking for now, give it a few years and check back. Maybe.....

Those coast guard recommendations tell you how many people or how much weight to be safe. Since airboats are inherently not safe, the sticker could only say 0 passengers!!!

Re: Boat sinks at ramp - Black Point Marina
Trailers have always been notoriously under maintained. Now that everybody wants their saltwater boats on aluminum trailers it’s even worse. They think “aluminum doesn’t ever rust” and don’t do anything to get the salt off. Walk through the line of trailers at any saltwater ramp and look at how many...

39803C4C-FE2A-47C5-BC25-D9C52E35D1D2.jpeg Maybe it’s overkill, but on some bolts that I have had trouble with or I otherwise didn’t trust, I drilled a small hole and tie them off A/C style. Hopefully the wire keeps them from backing out, but if it doesn’t, I will be able to see that it moved before...

Welcome to SA! Periodically check all nuts and bolts for tightness, one falling off can go thru the prop and explode it. x2 At the ramp, every time you stop & back at home! :salute: Start with replacing this bolt with the correct length! :thumbleft: nut.PNG X2 Visual check everything constantly...

Take that advice. In props and everything else you buy. No manufacturer is without issue, some just handle them better than others!!OneBFC wrote:
I stand behind my advice, customer service is the #1 thing to look for. All manufacturers have the exact same challenges and issues with props in service.

They sent out a survey, read the responses, then made changes to reflect the opinions received that made sense with the science and made it more fun for kids. It’s almost like they know what they are doing.... almost! Personally, I would rather not have dogs running deer during muzzleloader season, ...

Re: Thoughts on 4 cylinder boats
Not all 4cyl are created equal. They range in hp from about 90-200+. The hulls/riggings/weight vary and set up is a big deal. Some run awesome! Some don’t. If you are looking at a boat, bring somebody that knows what they are looking at and for heavens sake, don’t buy anything unless you run it first!

Funny how that is. I intentionally avoid the busy times on the water locally also, but for some reason feel compelled to go down to Kissimmee when it is the busiest?

That little ranger will do everything you need it too. You don’t need GPS coordinates. Just follow the crowd. Say hi, meet some people, tag along. If you have Motion X I can send you some GPS coordinates. PM me. But trust me you won’t need them. Everybody knows somebody who is waiting on somebody el...
