Re: 0320 Oil Change

Route your vent tube below the motor, not above it if parked outside. Condensation and rain run down hill. Run it hard each time you run it, especially if you idle for a long time. Make a point to run her good for a while before putting her on the trailer. Running the motor creates minute amounts of...

Re: North Korea

I am not a liberal, nor am I a conservative. I am a moderate. I do not lean toward extremists on either side. I use reason and logic, mixed with a healthy dose of perspective to base my political views. Every political candidate needs to earn my vote issue by issue, as I think too much to fit neatly...

Re: slick bottom vs polly

In my opinion, if you run the St. John’s, especially at night or as the water is rising or dropping (lol) you need poly. I know the river well, and every now and again I hit something HARD! I like riding day time, and even more at night, and I like going where I want to go regardless of the water le...

Nicely done. They say if you can’t explain something simply, you don’t understand it well enough. You got this one licked!

I figured you did.

What I mean is that it will be impossible to know how much better your new 10:1 motor feels with the Pacemaker vs that same motor built the same way with mags.

A complete overhaul and 10:1 pistons is gonna feel real good with mags or a Pacemaker.

Re: Pace Maker Electronic Ignition a/c boat

Good call, especially when building a motor that doesn’t already have mags.

Only problem there: Without ever running the motor on mags, you won’t have anything to compare it to.

Stop using hydrodynamic theory to calculate aerodynamic thrust. Doesn’t work!

Just a recommendation: Put something made by Lycoming on the back and have some fun. Then once you have actually felt what you are trying to improve, your chances of success will increase dramatically.

If I recall correctly, there was somebody that complained a while back about all the “male enhancement” ads that SA had... until they told him it was because of what he was searching

Funny add... even funnier: The adds that pop up are populated differently for each person depending on your browser history. Something to do with cookies?

I can only hope you and your wife share a computer. If not.....

If there is only one thing you bring when you ride alone, that thing needs to be COMMON SENSE!! If you have ever been told that you have more book smarts than street smart or even remotely question your ability to trouble shoot and create solutions to problems, never ride alone! Case and point: I ro...

Re: Going out without another boat

It is clearly safest to ride with a buddy in the boat and another boat or 2.... I don’t often. I’m not saying it is a great idea, but you’re not the only one. There is something about sunrise, sunset and solitude that bring me happiness. I am that way. I fish alone often, I hunt alone often, and I a...

Re: Pace Maker Electronic Ignition a/c boat

You will hear some dramatic improvements in top end and fuel economy from some people. I believe most of those people had malfunctioning mags when they put the Pacemaker on. WOT a mag is set correctly. It’s everywhere else that it is not and the mid-pedal performance is what you should expect to FEE...

Re: Pace Maker Electronic Ignition a/c boat

I second diggin's question, did the bad alternator play into the module failure? I’m sure it didn’t help, but i don’t think that that was the main problem. Only started it 4 or 5 times before fixing the alternator. I think the main problem was bad connections. It has been slow rolling over when sta...

Ya'll just laid out the pro's. What about the cons? I read some previous threads, but did not see any discussion of serviceability. I'm a reliability guy, I've always said I'd rather be stuck than broke down (without options). I've always liked the fact that one can replace an entire HEI ignition s...

If my engine is making more power burning less fuel and running cooler, it's running way more efficient!!! Witch means my engine is going to last me a lot longer! Mine is harder to start when hot also. But it starts. Turn the prop by hand 5 min after shutting down and feel the compression. Mine is real tight. That being said, it should still start. A bit of resistance in the starting circuit will let it start cold but struggle hot. The trick is finding it. I ...
