Re: 70x40 prop

Maybe, maybe no.

Not all 350DD push the same. That being said, I ran a 72x40 LXL on a 350DD and it was the right wood prop (if there is such a thing).

Re: What are your must have supplies.

It started with basic tools and grew to fill a 3’ dry box. After a while I went to pick up that box and realized I needed to go through it. Ended up getting rid of a bunch of stuff. Now it is growing again and probably needs another cleaning. One thing I have to consciously remember is a lighter. Ev...

Re: Is my thinking correct about reduction and pitch?

Ya. Theory behind giving her a higher gear ratio and more pitch is sound. Only question is: will more pitch be enough to counteract the additional gear ratio or will you be better off with more prop also if you go that route. Of course, you could just take out pitch now and get more snap. Your WOT R...

Re: IntercomHheadsets/GPS "recomendations"

Hands down the Bluetooth noise cancelling headsets designed for motorcycle helmets, installed in ear muffs is the way to go. His Sennas are clearly the best. I have a couple cheaper ones I made from some I ordered from the rainforest for $40 ea. They are trikcky to pair with a third rider and the ba...

Re: 0470 overheating and running rough

Sorry you are in this predicament. Airboats are a love hate thing for sure. Before you do anything, decide what you want to have when you are done. Do you want a big heavy boat with a heated cab and a big block? Do you love this boat and just wish the motor worked? If it’s right for you, then you ha...

is it the right carb with the right jet nozzle?...if its running rough it may just be a mag, plug or wire problem....try a mag drop test at 1800rpm and see if ya got an ign problem...might be a busted impulse spring or carbon track or etc. I recommend paying attention here to this guidance. You sai...

Re: 0470 overheating and running rough

One of the great things about this site is the wealth of knowledge available. The trick is identifying it when it is given. You should follow John Fenners advice. Running avgas and making sure timing is right is cheap and simple compared to the damage detonation causes. Avgas not only has higher oct...

Re: Engine tune

Use a zip tie. Just wrap it around the cage wire so that it “points” toward the trailing edge of the prop. Adjust it so it just touches the trailing edge of one blade. Cut off any excess if necessary. You now have a point of reference. You can add pitch and remove pitch by looking at the trailing ed...

Re: control issues

Just wondering if this is on the trailer or in the water? Tabs are usually a fine tuning thing so you can let go of the stick at cruise and she will ride straight. It takes the last little bit of pressure off the stick and makes riding les tiresome. If she is pulling that hard on the trailer, someth...

I can’t believe it hasn’t happened yet! We have the same scenario up here between 50 and Hatbill.

I have said it over and over: there needs to be flags on EVERY vessel out there.

I can think of no reason a boat of that description would be regularly running in that area if it weren’t Gator season. Every year it brings out the least common denominator in society to the water. Absolute morons!!

With any luck he wont get his tags filled and never comes back!!!

Re: lake monroe wma

The question is, what do you mean by “hunt the boat”? If you mean using the airboat as a way to access places to still hunt, then yes, Monroe and Upper St John’s are exactly what you are looking for. The rule against “herding” makes it illegal to beat the brush in an attempt to jump game, run them d...

General area regulations: 10. Taking or herding wildlife from any motorized vehicle, aircraft or boat, which is under power is prohibited until power, and movement from that power, has ceased. Re: dry ground with 350 dd with 300 hp is it possible

No but you will run forever on a tank of gas. In my first 350 DD i could run from hwy 50 to the oak head and back on 35 gallons Now it was turning a 7234 paddle to 2700. My old DD 350 turned a 72x40 stick 2850 and would run from Florence to the Oak Head on 7 gals. Never did it from 50 but that esti...

Re: 5200 sealant

KoolSeal is water based elastomeric roof paint. If it works, a silicone roof paint would work even better. Water based elastomeric paints are for roofs that have good drainage. The silicone roof paints are used when there is insufficient pitch and ponding water. Makes sense, if it seals a metal roof...

Read the MSDS. It will list the hazardous ingredients. If xylene is on the list, try that.

Re: spray mixture

It doesn’t matter. A little dew on the ground really makes a big difference compared to long dry runs on a sunny day. Water in the sprayer does a fine job of making things wet (just like a little dew on the ground) and is all you (should) need. Yes, you can feel that soapy water is a little slipperi...

A front driver is great whe you are riding solo. Rear driver is great with passengers.

It’s about balancing the load.

I have owned both and I think I like my front driver better..... probably.

Welcome aboard! There are some nice little AC boats with similar power plants. Do some browsing and you will see ideas. As a (very gemeral) rule, you want 1/4hp per lb total weight to run good. If you can keep it small and simple with a total weight around 600lbs before people and gas you should end...

Re: Higher Cruise Speed! Need Help From The Pros....

60 mph is sure not a cruise for an airboat no matter how you look at it. I'm not saying it can't be done. I'm saying it isn't safe. Good luck in your adventure. X2 Anywhere shallow enough (in Florida) to lend itself to the operation of an airboat, it will have vegetation and/or turns that limit vis...
