Re: Thrust testing for Sensenich today!

water thunder did you overlay the fuel and thrust curves for both props every hundred RPM's, that is the true measure of efficiency. If your burning more fuel at the same RPM to get more thrust your not always more efficient.

Gee big daddy you must have a transmission problem, 10MPH at the same RPM, Not possable unless your transmission is slipping or your driving on Ice.

I believe waterthunder is correct, contrairy to popular belief big carbs dont mean rich mixture. Qjets are more accurate than any holly when they are set up correctly. Keep your Qjet and find your air leak.

Re: It squeals like a pig a V-6 pig

Macgyver, shim the pump out not the pully! Do not run the boat without the pilot into the pully, bad advice.
Personally I would get the correct pully set. You may want to make sure the balancer is pulled up on the crank. Some balancers are not bolted and they can move out on you.

Re: Aluminum hull OK in salt water?

Beware of the 7000 series aluminums (aircraft) they are a alloyed with copper and absolutely not acceptable in salt water. 5052 is the best aluminum for marine hulls and fuel tanks. It was developed for marine use.

Re: NEW 4blade S, AND SBC cooling issue

682 gold put a jumper between the water pump suction and the intake manifold (the heater fittings) Here is your scenario thermostat is closed water heats up in the block and heads quickly but not in the thermostst housing you have no flow with the thermostat closed so the thermostat is not seeing th...

Re: NEW 4blade S, AND SBC cooling issue

682 gold, sounds like you have no circulation in the block when the thermostat is closed. The problem shows up more often when you have more radiator than required. In a SBC automotive/truck application the water pump is flowing coolent in a loop thru the heater core even when the heat is not on. Pu...

Re: NEW 4blade S, AND SBC cooling issue

flyingfish no I was refering to the business end where the spring and sensor is on the thermo, if the stat is sticking or the temp probe is stuck in the spring it will cause the temp to rise above the stats open temp and then jump open. I would change the stat even if its new, I bought one from napa...

Re: NEW 4blade S, AND SBC cooling issue

Make sure the temp probe is not hitting the thermostat, I have seen this cause the thermostat to snap open and snap closed causing the exact problem.

Re: Some more R blade thrust testing DATA

waterthunder, I need to clairify that I was answering your question. I believe it was pertaining to Lb. feet of torque vs thrust. I was saying that you cannot calculate thrust with just a torque number you must have 5 inputs torque/RPM/and reduction ratio.(if there is a reduction ratio) Prop diamete...

Re: Some more R blade thrust testing DATA

I thought about the torque vs thrust deal! Cant be done with submerged or air. There is no time factor in torque by itself. You have to have torqe at rpm. In other words horsepower. Torqe at 0 rpm is still torq but no work is being done.

Re: Some more R blade thrust testing DATA

Waterthunder, I can not answer the thrust per foot pound question. I can answer it for a submerged propeller but i do not have any data for airboat props. I think you just added channel to your data logger. After all you have built yourself an air brake dyno all you need is torque and you have all t...

Re: Some more R blade thrust testing DATA

Waterthunder I have been reading you posts for a while now and I have a few questions and maybe some answers. What does the power curve on your engine look like? I bet the power is down about the same as the thrust, percentage wise, when you add pitch. I think you may have gained a small amount of p...
