Re: Lake Jessup airboat crash?

Very sad and painful news. 2 years ago today I was out on that same lake looking for Jason and Charlie from an overnight boat accident. Prayers are with the families. At least the bodys have been recovered.

Re: 68" 3 blade whirlwind on 220 gpu

I ran that same setup on a 220. It ran pretty well. I think I had it on about 13 in the marks on the hub.

I couldn't fit any larger in my cage on the boat and a 2 blade couldnt crank enough pitch into without hitting the alternator on my setup.

I am so sad to hear this. Prayers go out to Dane and his mother. Danny was always willing to teach you something if you had the desire to learn. I know he will be truly missed by all airboaters. We will all miss Danny. His knowledge and wealth of parts. Nice to know I'm putting an Oliver engine on m...

That's what Keith and the boys are thinking at GTO... You can fly into Omaha and I think Grand Island too I believe and rent cars from either one... Re: Guess I bought a.lemon.220 gpu..

If you would fill in your profile we could point you in the right direction. Your smoke may be just a bad ring in one cylinder. A leak down test will help identify that. The washers will bring up the oil pressure but may not be the right fix for long term but think about it these springs have been i...

Re: Looking for a Custom Wrap for my boat...Anyone out there

I second PainterChic she is awesome

From experience don't waste your money doing the hull if you do any significant dry running or run in areas where stuff rubs your hull regularly. My wrap is tearing up badly and I will most likely pull it all off and just paint the hull again.

Re: Chunk of my poly came off

What do u guys think about puting bolts in the holes and us wing frog spit Round headed bolts. Coming up from the bottom with a flat washer and lock nut Don't ever use round headed bolts on the bottom of the boat to repair anything. Whoever owned my boat before me made a repair using round headed b...

Re: 220 gpu

good thing to do just make sure you have the crank nitrited (hardened) the gpu crank was never nitrited like they do for aircraft and with the extra HP from the upgrade they snap like twigs. Hard to find and expensive to replace.

The way you ride that step boat you would almost be better with poly but the weight will make a difference.

Re: 66in. whirlwind ss pitch ??

I would start closer to the 15 mark and go from there. I have a 68 ss on my 0290 and it is set at around 13 right now and spins 2600 I am going to back it down a bit more to get it around 2800 on the trailer. If you get too low you will spin the prop over 3000 and that is not good for them.

Re: shipping an engine

Check into Uship.com its the company that they use on shipping wars. They have actual bid auctions with people bidding for how much they will charge you to ship the item. Heck you may even get on the show with the unusual airboat engine.

Re: 0290 props?

I just bought a 68" whirlwind super snapper to put on mine. I only bought the 68 because I plan to upgrade to a 360 soon and wanted enough prop for it. If it is too much Patti at Whirlwind told me she could cut it down to 66 without much issues. I have a 66 4blade warp on it now and it doesn't like ...

Re: new to airboats 220 gpu

Do a search on here the manuals are in a file on Southern already. Also you can search for Ducarra aviation for parts they have almost everything if you are not in florida. In florida there are a lot of members on here that stock most of the gaskets you will need.

looks good. I had mine mounted on the floor between my feet on my old boat and loved it. I will probably change my current boat at some time to have the gauges in a more visible location.

Re: Pe60 weak cylinder

sounds like you may have to change pushrods. If you had the valve seats replaced they may have had to cut the cylinder a bit and the vavle may be closing but with the pushrod you have it may be to long causing it to hang just a bit open I would do as was recommended before and pull the pushrods and ...

Please be prepared for walking in deep muck as needed and please report to the black hamm...

Re: NEED BOATS TO HELP SEACH FOR MISSING BOATERS! !!

The volunteer search group is asking all volunteers to meet at the Black Hammock and go from there. This is where they are setting up the volunteer command center. There was a request by FWC to stay off the north side of the lake today so they could run infared and sonar FWC will most likely choose ...

here are all the ones that are hosted on Southern. If you have any that are missing it would be great to add them. You can send the file to Rick to have it added. I sent in the copy of one for the PE90 GPU.
