Re: 12ft airboat in texas waters

Hopefully the first time you sink it will be in the Bay so you can recover it. If you sink it in the Trinity river you'll probably end up with only photos of it. 12' boat with car motor and inexperienced operator equals disaster in the rough bay or river infested with big boat wakes. Not trying to r...

Re: Intro

Looks like my first airboat setup I bought when I was 16 back in 1976. I was told a guy in Port Arthur made a lot of these setups with 110 Corvair and 1/2 cage made from 1/2" solid rod. It looks exactly like what I had. Mine was mounted on a 16' deep/wide john boat and actually ran pretty well (no d...

Scored 165 7/8 gross and 160 1/8 net. Not bad for a low fence bow kill. Had him on trail cam last 3 weeks. Came in to feeder opening morning like any other day.

Re: Gatorgest 2012 Anahuac tx Sept. 13-16

Broke Crank OUCH!!! I made the run down the river to Gatorfest Sat afternoon with the wife and 6 yr old nephew so he could see some gators and ride a few rides. As with Murphy Law when we were leaving, looked down to see temp at 225 (never run above 190), shut her down, look at motor and also see fu...

Re: Poly patch

Just use hand or air chisel to cut rivets off inside hull and then punch out. Skilsaw should work ok to cut out bad area just set really shallow and not get into hull. Your jackscrew should be connected to your stringers so if it is causing a bulge in bottom of your hull sounds like it should be bac...

Re: DIXON TWISTER by AIRBOATS UNLIMITED any input

I ran into a guy with a Dixon Seminole boat here in texas last year with a 540 upstack. I know it's not the boat you're looking at but the boat was very well put together with quality craftsmanship, so I would think you would do well with this manufacturer but might be disappointed with capabilities...

Re: Hog hunting, Full Metal Jacket Style

JohnHuston, Evidently you dont have a clue as to how destructive these non-native hogs can be. In Texas there is a huge problem with these thugs even in people's neighborhoods. We try to control population by killing as many as we can but it is a futile attempt because they reproduce faster than rab...

Fishin, I run same size boat w/ 383 2-1 belt and Sensnich 78 lxl 50. spinning motor 5100 prop 2550. Runs pretty strong but I have buddies with 383 2.68-1 and 3 blade R that are a little stronger on dry of course that will come with a pretty hefty pricetag. I have a spare 78 lxl 50 prop you are welco...
